Banglavision
Banglavision () is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel owned by Shyamol Bangla Media Limited, commencing official broadcasts on 31 March 2006. Its name is a portmanteau of " bangla" and "television". Banglavision is based in Bir Uttam C.R. Dutta Road in Banglamotor, Dhaka. History Banglavision applied for a broadcasting license on 30 May 2004, which the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission granted them on 31 January 2005. On the same day, Boishakhi Television and Channel 1 have also received their licenses. Banglavision has also received the ability to broadcast internationally. The channel commenced test transmissions on 25 December 2005 at 18:00 ( BST), and officially began broadcasting on 31 March 2006 with the "Drishti Jure Desh" (দৃষ্টি জুড়ে দেশ; ) slogan, with its objective to showcase the Bengali culture to audiences. Boishakhi Television
Boishakhi Television, (; , referring to the first month of the Bengali calendar) also known as Boishakhi TV, stylized as boishakhi tv, is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language privately owned satellite and cable television channel, headquartered in Mohakhali, Dhaka. It is owned by Destiny 2000 Group, which acquired the channel from BNS Group of Companies in the late 2000s. It officially commenced transmissions on 27 December 2005. The programming of Boishakhi Television primarily consists of entertainment programming. Shafik Rehman
Shafik Rehman (born 11 November 1934) is a Bangladeshi journalist, political analyst, and writer. He is credited for introducing Valentine's Day in Bangladesh. He is also the presenter of the Television show “Lal Golap”, aired on BanglaVision. He has worked to gather support in favour of Bangladesh in England with Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. Rehman founded the weekly Jaijaidin in 1984 which was critical to General Hussain Muhammad Ershad, a military leader who assumed power through a military coup in 1982. He was forced to leave the country in 1986 after the Ershad government suspended the declaration of Jaijaidin and was not allowed to return Bangladesh till 1991. Rehman was a director of Spectrum Radio in England. Rehman has been serving as the editor of magazine Mouchake Dhil from 2009. Around 46 privately owned television channels were permitted by the Government of Bangladesh as of 2023, of which thirty-six are currently on air. Ekushey Television (; , in reference to 21 February), also known by its acronym ETV, is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language privately owned satellite and cable television channel. It is headquartered in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka, and is Bangladesh's first privately owned television channel to broadcast news and current affairs programming. Ekushey Television was launched on 14 April 2000 by A. S. Mahmud, with the "Poribortone Ongikarboddho" (পরিবর্তনে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ; ) slogan, which is still used today, as a privately owned nationwide terrestrial television network, the first of its kind in Bangladesh and the region of South Asia in general. Founded in 1949 by Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani and Yar Mohammad Khan, it is the oldest and one of the most circulated newspapers in Bangladesh.
