Bangalow
Bangalow is a small town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia in Byron Shire. The town is north of Sydney and south of Brisbane, just off the Pacific Highway. It is on the Lands of the Bundjalung people. The town's name is thought to have been derived from a Bundjalung word in the Wibadhabi dialect, 'b''angalla, said to mean 'a low hill' or 'a kind of palm tree'. History Bangalow's historic streetscape, monthly market and proximity to the popular tourist resort of Byron Bay has increased its appeal as a tourist destination. Timber cutters established a camp on the banks of Byron Creek in the 1840s but it was not until the 1880s that a town appeared on the site. A billy cart is a popular Australian form of Gravity racer, gravity powered vehicle, often homemade and constructed for either recreational or competitive use. The name of the cart tends to vary regionally, with synonyms "go cart" and "hill trolley". Byron Shire is a Local government areas of New South Wales, local government area located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. Ballina is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. History Ballina was originally created in 1894, when the three-member electorate of Richmond was divided into Richmond, Lismore and Ballina. In 1904, Ballina was replaced by Byron. Queenslander architecture is a modern term for a type of residential housing, widespread in Queensland, Australia.
