Banfield, Buenos Aires
Banfield is a city in the district of Lomas de Zamora in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, south of the city center of Buenos Aires. It forms part of the Greater Buenos Aires metro area. History The area where the city is currently located originated from the laying of the railroad tracks. In principle, this allowed communication between Chascomús and the city of Buenos Aires, which at that time was the provincial capital. The yellow fever epidemic that occurred in 1871 diversified the location of the population, mainly in the suburbs, as well as in the sectors near the capital, until then little chosen. Juan de Zamora sold his property to the Colegio de Nuestra Señora de Belén in 1765, but in 1767 the Jesuit order of Río de la Plata was expelled and dissolved. Temperley, Argentina
Temperley is a district in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina, located in the south of Lomas de Zamora Partido. History In 1854 the industrial and textile merchant George Temperley (born in 1823 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England) bought from the Marenco brothers 51 hectares between the present streets of Dorrego, Almirante Brown, Eva Perón and Lavalle, and built a country house there. On October 16, 1870, Temperley set aside land from his extensive property for the establishment of a community, and participated in the building of both the original Lomas de Zamora City Hall and the Temperley railway station, one of the largest in Greater Buenos Aires. In 1965 the town of Temperley was granted ''ciudad'' status by the Provincial Legislature. Pedro Pablo Ramírez Menchaca (30 January 1884 – 12 May 1962) was President of Argentina from 7 June 1943, to 9 March 1944. He was the founder and leader of ''Guardia Nacional'', Argentina's fascist militia. Life and career After graduating from the Argentine military college in 1904 as a second lieutenant, Ramírez was promoted in 1910 as first lieutenant of the cavalry. In 1911, he was sent to Germany for training with the Fifth Hussars cavalry in Kaiser Wilhelm II's Prussian Army. He returned home in 1913, with a German wife, prior to the outbreak of World War I. Advancing in rank as a specialist in cavalry tactics, he assisted fellow General José Félix Uriburu in an authoritarian coup that deposed Hipólito Yrigoyen in 1930.
