Bandy Bond Nederland
Bandy Bond Nederlands is the governing body for bandy in the Netherlands and is controlling the Netherlands national bandy team. Bandy was introduced to the Netherlands by Pim Mulier in 1891 and the Nederlandsche Hockey en Bandy Bond, organising field hockey and bandy, was founded on 8 October 1898. In the 1920s and 1930s ice hockey increasingly became a tough competitor to bandy. The federation eventually let go of bandy and was renamed the Nederlandse Hockey Bond in 1935. However, bandy was still played by som clubs during the 1950s and 1960s. Sometimes it was played as rink bandy. By 1971 the new ''Nederlandse Bandy Federatie'' was founded. It became a member of the Federation of International Bandy in 1973 (or the International Bandy Federation, as it was known at the time), as the first non-founding member. Netherlands National Bandy Team
The Dutch national bandy team represents the Netherlands in the sport of bandy. The team made its international championship debut at the 1913 European Bandy Championships in Davos, Switzerland. However, the Netherlands did not compete in the Bandy World Championship before the 1990s, even if bandy actually has been played more or less regularly in the Netherlands since the early 20th Century. The Netherlands participated in their first World Championship tournament in 1991 and has been attending the tournaments regularly since the 2003 championship. By the 1991 World Championship the team had the traditional Dutch orange jerseys, but before that the colours of the flag. On 6 January 2014 the Dutch won a four nation tournament in Davos, a centenary celebration of the European Championship of 1913. The other teams were Czech Republic, Hungary, and Germany. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond
The Royal Dutch Hockey Association ( nl, Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond, KNHB) is the official governing body of Field hockey in the Netherlands. It governs both the indoor and outdoor field hockey leagues, as well as the Netherlands men's national field hockey team, Netherlands national field hockey team and the Netherlands women's national field hockey team. Originally, the association was also responsible for bandy in the Netherlands, but that sport is now governed by Bandy Bond Nederland. Rink Bandy
Rink bandy is a variant of the larger sport of bandy. Unlike bandy which is played on a large bandy field, rink bandy is played on significantly smaller ice hockey sized ice rinks. While a bandy field is about the same size as a football pitch, rink bandy is played on ice hockey rinks. Rink bandy originated in Sweden in the 1960s and was originally called ''hockeybockey''. With the arrival of indoor ice hockey arenas, it was a way for bandy players to practice on ice for a longer time of the year by making use of the new indoor facilities. Due to the fact that bandy fields are much larger than ice hockey rinks, playing surfaces for bandy were still only made outdoors in the wintertime when artificial freezing was unnecessary.
