Angelo Maria Bandini
Angelo Maria Bandini (25 September 1726 – 1803) was an Italian author and librarian born in Florence. Biography Orphan since infancy, Angelo Maria was supported by his uncle, Giuseppe Bandini, a lawyer of some note. He was initially educated among the Jesuits, and showed a special inclination for the study of antiquities. In 1747 he undertook a journey to Vienna with the bishop of Volterra, for whom he acted in the capacity of secretary. He was introduced to the emperor and took the opportunity of dedicating to that monarch his ''Specimen Litteraturae Florentinae,'' which was then printed at Florence. On his return he took holy orders, and settled in Rome, passing the whole of his time in the library of the Vatican City, Vatican, and in those of the cardinals Domenico Silvio Passionei, Passionei and Corsini. Arcadia Bandini de Stearns Baker (1827–1912) was a wealthy Californio landowner and socialite of Los Angeles. She played an important role in the elite society of Los Angeles and, later, Santa Monica, California, Santa Monica. She was married to two wealthy Anglo-American men over the course of her life, Abel Stearns and then Robert Symington Baker, Colonel Robert S. Baker. Like many ''californias'' of her time, Arcadia Bandini provided to her Anglo husbands opportunities for entrance into and alliances within the established ''californio'' elite society. ''Fons memorabilium universi'' ("Source of notable information about the universe") is an early encyclopedia, written in Latin by the Italian Renaissance humanism, humanist Domenico Bandini of Arezzo (also given as Domenico di Bandino or Dominicus Bandinus, c. 1335 – 1418). Planned to inform and edify educated men who lack other books, the work covered God and the natural world, as was common for encyclopedias of the time, but also added a voluminous last part dealing with man and historical figures, philosophy and history, theology, ethics, heretics and women. Bandini, a teacher of grammar and rhetoric who lived in Florence, Bologna, Città di Castello and Arezzo, worked on the encyclopedia from before 1374 until his death in 1418. Helen Elliott Bandini
Helen Elliott Bandini (June 1854 – June 10, 1911) was an American writer, primarily of Californian history. Bandini was active in civic matters, the arts and a writer for newspapers and magazines. She authored two books. Biography Helen Elliott was born in Indianapolis and educated in public schools. She came to California in 1874 following her father, Dr. Thomas B. Elliott, who was an early founder and president of Indiana Colony. The name lasted for a while until which point they wanted their own post office. Up to this time, the mail was being brought up from Los Angeles by one resident's son who was going to school there. Mail for the colony came to Los Angeles earmarked for "Indiana Colony," but when the community applied for a post office, the Postmaster General rejected the name Indiana Colony. Ilario Bandini (18 April 1911 – 12 April 1992) was an Italian businessman, motor racing, racing driver, and racing car manufacturer. Early years Bandini was born in Villa Rovere, today part of the administrative region of Forlì in Romagna. After finishing elementary school, he apprenticed as a mechanic and Turning, turner in Forli. At the age of 25 he moved to Eritrea, then an Italian colony, where he operated a transport business between Dekemhare and Asmara. He returned to Italy in 1939 and, with his savings, opened a garage and car rental/limousine service in downtown Forlì. In the same year, Bandini started competing as a motorcycle racing, motorcycle racer, racing at Faenza, Lugo, Emilia-Romagna, Lugo di Romagna, and Imola. Juan Bandini (1800 – November 4, 1859) was a Peruvian-born Californio public figure, politician, and ranchero. He is best known for his role in the development of San Diego in the mid-19th century. Early history Bandini was born in 1800 in Lima, Viceroyalty of Peru, Peru, to José Bandini, a Spanish sea captain. His father came to California in 1819 and in 1821 participated in the Mexican War of Independence. After the revolution, his father's family moved to San Diego, arriving on September 1, 1834, on the brig ''Natalie''. Lorenzo Bandini (21 December 1935 – 10 May 1967) was an Italian racing driver, who competed in Formula One from to . Bandini won the 1964 Austrian Grand Prix with Ferrari. In endurance racing, Bandini won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in , as well as the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1967, both with Ferrari. Born in Libya and raised in Florence, Bandini was initially a mechanic before competing in motorcycle racing. His racing career started in 1957, driving a borrowed Fiat 1100, before he achieved a class win at the Mille Miglia one year later. John Fante (April 8, 1909 – May 8, 1983) was an American novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter. He is best known for his semi-autobiographical novel ''Ask the Dust'' (1939) about the life of Arturo Bandini, a struggling writer in Depression-era Los Angeles. It is widely considered the great Los Angeles novel, and is one in a series of four, published between 1938 and 1985, that are now collectively called "The Bandini Quartet." Bandini Automobili was an Italian automobile manufacturer operating between 1946 and 1992. It was named after its founder Ilario Bandini. It produced about 75 cars, of which around 40 were sold in the United States. History Bandini was founded in 1946 in Forlì, the first Bandini, the ''Prima'', used a modified Fiat 1100 (1937), Fiat 1100 engine, the body was made from aluminum and the chassis was a modified Fiat 1100 Bandini hid from the Germans during World War 2. Following on from this, Bandini made the 1100 Sport and the 1100 Siluro. It was the Siluro that gave them their first race victory in the Giro dell'Umbria (not to be confused with the bicycle race of the same name). The chassis for these were built from tubular steel.
