Bandar Sri Pinang
Bandar Sri Pinang is a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Situated within the city centre, it is bounded by the Pinang River to its north and the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway to its west. Comprising a mix of low-cost and luxury residential, commercial and light industrial developments, the neighbourhood was formed in 2014 through land reclamation by Malaysian conglomerate IJM Corporation. History In 1997, Jelutong Development Sdn Bhd (JDSB), a subsidiary of IJM Corporation, was awarded the Jelutong Expressway project which has since been renamed the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway. The highway was intended to serve as the main thoroughfare connecting the city centre and the Penang Bridge, thus alleviating traffic congestion at Jelutong. Jelutong, Penang
Jelutong is a suburb of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located south of the city centre, Jelutong has been inhabited since as early as the late 18th century, when traders from Aceh and India settled around the area. It was once notorious as a turf for gangsters and triads until the 1980s, when urbanisation transformed the area into a residential suburb of George Town. Etymology Jelutong was named after the Jelutong tree, known scientifically as '' Dyera costulata''. It was believed that this species of trees was once abundant around the area now known as Jelutong. Methodist College Kuala Lumpur is a private college in Malaysia, established in 1983 by the Methodist Council of Education. Karpal Singh
Karpal Singh s/o Ram Singh Deo (; 28 June 1940 – 17 April 2014) was an Indian Malaysian politician and lawyer. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Bukit Gelugor in the state of Penang from 2004 to 2014. During that time, he was also the National Chairman of the Democratic Action Party (DAP). Born in Penang to Sikh Punjabi Indian immigrant parents, Karpal studied law at the National University of Singapore. He was one of Malaysia's most prominent lawyers and took a number of high-profile cases, including drug-trafficking charges against foreign nationals. Karpal was an opponent of the death penalty, especially for drug trafficking. In the courtroom and Parliament, he was a controversial figure. Democratic Action Party
The Democratic Action Party (DAP; ) is a social democracy, social democratic and Secularism, secular political party in Malaysia, sitting on the Centre-left politics, centre-left of the political spectrum. Karpal Singh Drive
Karpal Singh Drive is a seafront promenade in George Town within the Malaysian state of Penang. Located at Bandar Sri Pinang, it faces the Penang Strait and was named after Karpal Singh (1940-2014), a prominent opposition politician and lawyer who hailed from the city. Penang Strait
The Penang Strait is an 11 kilometre-wide strait that separates Penang Island from mainland Malay Peninsula.
