Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso
Banco del Mutuo Soccorso (English: ''Bank of Mutual Relief'') is an Italian rock band. A popular progressive rock band in the 1970s, they continued making music in the 1980s and 1990s. They were still active, playing live in 2001 and 2008 at NEARfest. Their charismatic frontman, Francesco Di Giacomo, died in 2014. History Inspired by progressive rock acts from England, in particular Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, keyboardists Vittorio Nocenzi and his brother Gianni founded Banco del Mutuo Soccorso in Rome, Italy. In 1972, together with other musicians from Rome progressive scene, they recorded their eponymous debut album which, with songs such as "R.I.P. (Requiescant in pace)", "Il giardino del mago" and "Metamorfosi", immediately attracted the attention of the public of the nascent progressive rock scene in Italy. ''Banco'' is the fourth studio album by Italian progressive rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso (at that time known simply as Banco). The album was originally released in 1975 on the Manticore Records label launched by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Background The album was released in 1975 with the songs translated into English by the American musician Marva Jan Marro. Re-releases In 2010 a re-mastered edition of the album was released on CD, as part of a wider re-release of albums in the Manticore catalogue. Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM) (translation: ''Award-winning Marconi Bakery'') is an Italian progressive rock band founded in 1970 which continues to the present day. They were the first Italian group to have success internationally. The group recorded five albums with English lyrics between 1973 and 1977. The Hammond organ is an electric organ invented by Laurens Hammond and John M. Hanert, first manufactured in 1935. Multiple models have been produced, most of which use sliding #Drawbars, drawbars to vary sounds. Until 1975, sound was created from rotating a metal tonewheel near an electromagnetic pickup, and Power amplifier, amplifying the electric signal into a speaker enclosure, speaker cabinet. ''Io sono nato libero'' (translated from Italian to "I Was Born Free") is the third studio album by Italian progressive rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. The album had a more pastoral, poetic, and melancholic atmosphere compared to their last album, Darwin, while still keeping the long complex material. Songs like Canto nomade per un prigioniero politico and Dopo...niente è più lo stesso had emotionally building and powerful symphonic passages. "Non mi rompete" and "La città sottile" were released as singles in 1973. The album was well received and in 2015 it was listed as the 35th best progressive rock album by The Rolling Stone magazine. The album is a concept album that covers Darwin's theory of evolution and the creation and development of Earth and it's species.
