Bamseom Pirates Seoul Inferno
''Bamseom Pirates Seoul Inferno'' () is a 2017 South Korean music documentary film directed by Jung Yoon-suk. It follows the exploits of South Korean punk band Bamseom Pirates' two controversial members, drummer Gwon Yong-man and bassist Jang Seong-geon, as they kick back against government censorship and society hypocrisy. It premiered at the 2017 International Film Festival Rotterdam, where it emerged as one of the most popular film of the festival with audience giving the film a 4.5 out of 5 ratings. It also won the Grand Prize at the 5th Wildflower Film Awards 2018, becoming the first documentary film to win the Grand Prize. Bamseom Pirates
Bamseom Pirates () was a grindcore band from Seoul, South Korea. Their work is marked by satire, and they frequently parody South Korean and North Korean governments and ideologies. In July 2010, they released their first album, "Seoul Inferno." The album contained 42 tracks, but due to the short song length the album runtime is less than an hour. They announced their breakup on September 8, 2012, but have continued to be active infrequently. In 2013 they played the local Sun Eaters Fest as well as Zandari Festa, and also released a new album, "Kimjongill Carsex." However, they have remained inactive despite a few infrequent appearances. Bamseom () is a pair of islets in the Han River in Seoul, South Korea. The uninhabited islets, with a total area of about and length of , are located between the larger island of Yeouido, to which they were once connected, and the north shore. They remain connected to one another by a narrow strip of sedimentary silt. Seogang Bridge passes directly over the western islet, though there is no access available, as the islets have been left as a natural sanctuary. There is, however, an observation point for bird-watching. Migratory birds use the islets often and among the birds which can be seen are mallards, great egrets, mandarins, common kestrels, and Eastern spot-billed ducks. Park Jung-geun () is a South Korean photographer. He received a suspended 10-month prison term for violating South Korean National Security Law by resending North Korean tweets. He claimed that the Twitter posts he made that were used to convict him were sarcastic, and that the case built against him selected only certain tweets that made him look bad. Others have called his tweets satire. He was eventually acquitted. Amnesty International criticised his arrest and pointed out that although he was a socialist, he was not a supporter of North Korea. The Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival is a documentary film festival held biennially in Yamagata, Japan ( ).
