Valentine Bambrick VC (13 April 1837 – 1 April 1864) was a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Bambrick was "a son of the Army" - his father, at least one uncle (after whom he was named), and his older brother John all served with the 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own). Early life He was the son of John Thomas Bambrick (1790-1879) and Harriett Ann ''née'' Redlan (1795-1871). His older brother Pte John Thomas Bambrick (1832-1893) fought with the 11th Hussars (PAO) during the famous Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854 during the Crimean War. Joe Bambrick
Joseph Gardiner Absolom Bambrick (3 November 1905 – 13 October 1983) was a Northern Irish footballer who played for Chelsea, Walsall, Glentoran, and Linfield. A former gas worker of medium build, he was a prolific goalscorer in the Irish League and the Football League, adept at getting into good scoring positions and athletic enough to make the final touch count. "Head, heel, or toe, slip it to Joe" became a famous catch-phrase when referring to him. His scoring of six goals for Ireland v Wales at Celtic Park on 1 February 1930 in a 7–0 win, still remains the record score for a British Isles player in an international fixture. Gertrude Bambrick
Gertrude Bambrick (August 24, 1897 – January 10, 1974) was an American actress of the silent era. She appeared in 60 films between 1912 and 1916. Biography Bambrick was married twice. Her first marriage to early film director Marshall Neilan ended in divorce and resulted in one child, Marshall Neilan Jr, who later became a successful film editor. Neilan fell in love with Bambrick while working in New York City in 1914, and at the time he was a rising star in film direction. At one point during their marriage he was earning $15,000 per week. He was involved in several affairs during their marriage. Bambrick retired from acting in 1916 after marrying Neilan, before her career could ever really take off. Bambrick divorced Neilan in 1921 after discovering he was involved in an affair with early film actress Blanche Sweet.
