Baltimora Songs
Baltimora was an Italian music project from Milan, active from 1984 to 1987. They are best known for their 1985 single "Tarzan Boy" and are often considered a one-hit wonder in the United Kingdom and the United States. In other European countries, including their native Italy, Baltimora scored a follow-up hit "Woody Boogie" the same year. History Early years In early 1984, Maurizio Bassi, a music producer and musician from Milan, met Jimmy McShane, a native of Derry, Northern Ireland. They decided to form an act fronted by McShane, a trained singer, dancer and actor, who had previously tried to break into the West End theater scene and toured with Dee D. Jackson. McShane and Bassi chose the name Baltimora when, one evening together, McShane took a map of the United States, closed his eyes and happened to place his finger on Baltimore. Bravo TV (TV Series)
BRAVO TV is a German television program which aired from January 1985 till December 1986 on Sat.1 and from May 1993 till December 2002 on RTL II. In February 2003 the ZDF took over the show, but it was cancelled due to bad ratings in November 2004. The show later had a short-lived revival on ProSieben and was aired again for the first time on November 5, 2005. In May 2007 it was cancelled for good. The television show covered similar topics as the ''BRAVO'' print magazine. It usually included detailed music charts, more-or-less prominent guests, sexual education topics and a music video selected by the viewers at the end of the show. "Key Key Karimba" is a song by Italo disco act Baltimora, released in 1987 as the lead single from their second and final studio album '' Survivor in Love''. The song was written and produced by Maurizio Bassi. Background After the success created by Baltimora's 1985 debut hit "Tarzan Boy", the act's following singles were not as successful. "Woody Boogie" found moderate European success, but the singles " Living in the Background", as well as the 1986 single "Juke Box Boy" failed to make a huge impact. "Key Key Karimba" was an attempt for Baltimora to make a comeback after the disappointing sales of the previous singles. Despite performing the song on various TV shows, as well as a music video, the single failed to make any impact worldwide. ''Survivor in Love'' is the second and final album by Italy-based act Baltimora. The album, released in 1987, was only issued in select countries, such as Italy, Germany, UK, Japan, and Mexico. It was later re-released in 2003 on CD to many more countries, including the United States and Canada due to the current dance/pop uprise in recent years, as well as for Baltimora fans who had not received the original LP in their home countries. The reason the album was not released in certain countries in 1987 was due to the poor sales of the singles (except "Tarzan Boy") on the group's previous album, '' Living in the Background''. ''Living in the Background'' is the debut studio album by Italian-based act Baltimora, released in the United States in April 1985 by EMI-Manhattan Records and in Europe on 4 September 1985 by EMI. Overview Jimmy McShane supposedly performed the lead vocals, although there is some controversy surrounding who the actual singer is, while the songs were written by Maurizio Bassi and Naimy Hackett. "Tarzan Boy", the first single released from the album, became an international success, peaking at number 13 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and at number three in the United Kingdom. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100, also known as simply the Hot 100, is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), online streaming, and radio airplay in the U.S. A new chart is compiled and released online to the public by ''Billboard''s website on Tuesdays but post-dated to the following Saturday, when the printed magazine first reaches newsstands. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created in 1995 on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Alberto Carrara (born 1958), best known as Carrara and King Carrara, is an Italian singer, composer, arranger, music producer, and disc jockey. He has sold over three million records.
