Ostia (, ; officially Lido di Ostia) is a large neighbourhood in the X Municipio of the ''comune'' of Rome, Italy, near the ancient port of Rome, which is now a major archaeological site known as Ostia Antica. Ostia is also the only or district of Rome on the Tyrrhenian Sea, and many Romans spend the summer holidays there. Agostino Tassi
Agostino Tassi (born Agostino Buonamici; 1578 – 1644) was an Italian landscape and seascape painter, who was convicted of raping Artemisia Gentileschi in 1612. Because he aspired to nobility he modified the details of his early life. Though he was born in Perugia he claimed to have been born in Rome. His family name was Buonamici, but Agostino adopted the surname Tassi to give substance to his story that he was adopted by the Marchese Tassi. He was actually the son of a furrier named Domenico. Career Tassi may have worked for a time in Livorno, as well as in Florence. Among his followers or pupils in Livorno is thought to be Pietro Ciafferi. During his sojourn in Florence it is believed that he was made a galley slave in the Grand Duke's convict galleys for some unspecified crime. François De Nomé
''Santi Severino e Sossio'' in Napoles François de Nomé (1593 – after 1620) was a French painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Naples. Biography Born in Metz in the Lorraine region in 1593, de Nomé had moved to Rome by 1602 where he worked in the workshop of the Flemish landscape painter Balthasar Lauwers until around 1610 after which he moved to Naples. Work Until the mid-twentieth century, de Nomé's works were believed to be by one "Monsù Desiderio", but the works formerly attributed to Desiderio have since been identified as the work of at least three artists: de Nomé, Didier Barra, who was also from Metz, and a third, as yet unnamed painter. The figures in de Nomé's works were painted by other artists, including Belisario Corenzio and Jacob van Swanenburgh. Filippo Lauri
Filippo Lauri (25 August 1623 - 12 December 1694) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Rome. ''Miracle of St Vincent Ferrer'' Born and active in Rome, his story was featured in the biographies by Baldinucci. He first studied with his father, Balthasar Lauwers (Italianized as Lauri), who was a Flemish landscape painter; and then studied with his elder brother, Francesco Lauri. Afterwards, he worked under his brother-in-law, Angelo Caroselli. Filippo's brother had been a pupil of Andrea Sacchi. In 1654 Lauri became a member of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, and later became the ''Principe'' or director of the academy. He painted along with Filippo Gagliardi a canvas depiction of ''Celebrations for Christine of Sweden at Palazzo Barberini'' (now at Palazzo Braschi), which demonstrates the exuberant pageantry common in their time. Francesco Lauri
Francesco Lauri (1610–1635) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Rome, but also throughout other parts of eastern and northern Italy and some of France, Spain and Greece. Biography He was the oldest son of the Flemish painter Balthasar Lauwers (Baltassare Lauri). His father was a landscape painter and pupil of Paul Bril who had emigrated from Antwerp to Milan and then settled in Rome. Francesco's younger brother Fillipo Lauri was also a painter and a pupil of Angelo Caroselli. Francesco was a disciple of his father and of Andrea Sacchi. He is said by Baldinucci to have painted one of the ovals in the ceiling of the Palazzo de' Crescenzi, and often painted figures for Claude Lorraine. House Of Sacchetti
The Sacchetti family is an Italian noble family originating in Tuscany, now resident in Rome, whose earliest documented member Merlo lived during the late 10th and early 11th centuries. The name of the family is derived from one or more members known as Sacchetto. According to Ugolino di Vieri (1438–1516),"nobile Sacchetti genus est, moenia primus romanus sangius". In the 19th century, the Sacchetti inherited the title of Prince of Palestrina and permission to use the Barberini name.
