Ballot Result
''"Ballot Result"'' is a posthumous live album by Minutemen, released in 1987 by SST Records. Production Following ''3-Way Tie (For Last)'', Minutemen decided to do a live album entitled, ''Three Dudes, Six Sides, Half Studio, Half Live''. The group printed ballots which they passed out to fans during their summer and fall 1985 performances as well as inserted into the first pressing of ''3-Way Tie (For Last)''; the ballots would determine which songs the band would record for the live portion of the album. The death of guitarist and lead singer D. Boon on December 22, 1985 scuttled Minutemen, putting an end to both the band and the planned live album. Surviving members Mike Watt and George Hurley, a few months from reuniting to form Firehose with singer/guitarist Ed Crawford, decided to use the ballots and existing live recordings (many sent in by fans and friends) to compile the album. Live Album

''Buzz or Howl Under the Influence of Heat'' is the fourth EP (and sixth overall release) by American hardcore punk band Minutemen, released by SST Records in November 1983. The EP is noted for featuring tracks with greater depth and more conventional song structure than on the band's previous releases. Background ''Buzz or Howl Under the Influence of Heat'' is Minutemen's first 12-inch EP. The EP was recorded rather cheaply even by Minutemen standards; the cost was $50. Most of the songs were cut live to two-track tape at Total Access Studio in Redondo Beach, CA, as opposed to using a multi-track tape recorder, with longtime SST Records staff producer Spot behind the mixing board. Spot had suggested the live-to-two-track approach after Minutemen queried about the possibility of recording a new EP on four-channel multi-track tape, rather than the 16-track recordings the band had done in the past. The Punch Line
''The Punch Line'' is the debut studio album and third overall release by American punk rock band Minutemen, and the fourth-ever release from SST Records. After their previous release, ''Paranoid Time'', sold out its 300-copy pressing, Greg Ginn invited the band to record again. Less than half the length of most LPs, the total playing time for all 18 songs is a mere 15 minutes. The album was an early milestone release for the band and SST. ''The Punch Line'' hit record store shelves three months after the release of ''Joy'', although ''Joy'' was recorded after ''The Punch Line''. ''The Punch Line'' also appears on the '' My First Bells'' cassette and the '' Post-Mersh Vol. 1'' CD. Charles Edward Crawford (born January 26, 1964), known as ed fROMOHIO, is and American musician, best known as the lead singer and guitarist for Firehose, an alternative rock band he formed in 1986 with former Minutemen members Mike Watt (bass guitar) and George Hurley (drums). Biography In 1985, Minutemen vocalist and guitarist D. Boon was killed in a van wreck. In 1986, Ed, a recent Ohio State University graduate and Minutemen fan, heard an erroneous rumor that Watt and Hurley were auditioning new guitarists from a member of Camper Van Beethoven. Firehose (stylized as fIREHOSE) was an American alternative rock band consisting of Mike Watt (bass, vocals), Ed Crawford (guitar, vocals), and George Hurley (drums). They were initially active from 1986 to 1994, and briefly reunited in 2012. History Firehose was formed in the spring of 1986 shortly after the accidental death of D. Boon brought an end to Watt and Hurley's previous band, Minutemen. Crawford, a then 21-year-old Ohio State student and Minutemen fan, was invited up on the roof of Camper Van Beethoven's van in Columbus, Ohio. The members of Camper Van Beethoven told Crawford a false rumor that Watt and Hurley were auditioning guitarists for the band. George Hurley
George Hurley (born September 4, 1958) is a drummer noted for his work with Minutemen and fIREHOSE. Music career Early years Originally from the East Coast, Hurley and his family moved to San Pedro, California, when he was six years old. Hurley was a surfer before devoting himself to music. A self-taught musician, Hurley created his own drumsticks out of Plexiglas and wood at the Boys Club in his youth. He got his first drumkit when he was nineteen after trading a motorcycle for it. Although he is known as a punk drummer, Hurley's musical influences are primarily jazz-based. Even though he went to the same high school as D. Boon and Mike Watt he did not meet them until around 1978. That same year, Hurley formed the Reactionaries with Boon, Watt, and Martin Tamburovich. ''3-Way Tie (For Last)'' is the fourth and final full-length album by American punk band Minutemen, released in 1985 by SST Records. It features covers of songs by the Urinals, Meat Puppets, Blue Öyster Cult, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Roky Erickson. The last song, a cover of Erickson's "Bermuda", was sung over the phone by Mike Watt. The album was released very shortly before the death of D. Boon, who also painted the cover. Watt collaborated with Black Flag bassist Kira Roessler on four tracks ("Political Nightmare", "No One", "Stories", and "What Is It?"). At around the time that the album was recorded, Watt and Roessler formed Dos. The album included ballots for listeners to vote on the track list for what would become '' Ballot Result''.
