The club was founded in February 1984 and, as of 2023, was competing in the Limerick Desmond League. History Ballingarry A.F.C. was formed in February 1984. At a meeting held at the time, it decided to enter a team in the Desmond District League for the coming 1984/85 season. The club's colours were agreed to yellow and green, which with little variation, remain in place today. The club entered Division 2B of the Desmond District League, and the club played their first competitive game in September 1984, in Askeaton against the local B team. Ballingarry () is a village in County Limerick, Ireland. It is located near the village of Granagh and between the towns of Rathkeale and Kilmallock on the R518 road. Ballingarry lies in a civil parish of the same name, and within the ecclesiastical parish of Ballingarry-Granagh in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Limerick. The village had a population of 570 as of the 2022 census, up from 521 at the 2016 census. History Evidence of ancient settlement around Ballingarry includes several ringfort and holy well sites. A number of early medieval religious houses, including a preceptory associated with the Knights Templar or Knights Hospitaller, were founded nearby from the 12th century. The Limerick Desmond League is an association football league featuring amateur, junior, youth and under-17 teams from the part of County Limerick west of the N20. Its top division, the Premier Division, is a seventh level division in the Republic of Ireland football league system. Desmond is a historical name associated with both Limerick and Munster. Anthony Michael Forde (born 16 November 1993) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a wing-back for Burton Albion. He has represented the Republic of Ireland at numerous youth levels. Career Wolves Forde moved to Wolves in summer 2009 to become part of their academy group. He made his senior debut on 23 August 2011 as a substitute in a League Cup tie against Northampton Town, and his Premier League debut on 26 November 2011 at Chelsea. He made six appearances in the top flight as the club suffered relegation.
