Ken Ballew Raid
The Ken Ballew raid was a federal raid on June 7, 1971, on the home of Kenyon F. "Ken" Ballew in the debates between advocates of gun control and advocates of gun ownership rights in the United States. Investigation In 1971, the federal Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Division (ATFD) and the local Montgomery County and Prince George's County police departments planned a joint task force operation on the residence of James Russell Thomas, at Apartment No. 102, 1014 Quebec Terrace, in an apartment complex in Silver Spring, Maryland. A teenage burglary suspect, cooperating with police as an informant, told the county investigators that he had seen guns and grenades in Apartment No. 2 of a white man named "Ken" who drove a white jeep. ATFD added Apt. 2 to the original raid planned for Apt. 102. Chris Ballew
Christopher Ballew (born May 28, 1965) is an American musician best known as the lead singer and bassist of the alternative rock group the Presidents of the United States of America. He also performed and recorded as a children's artist under the pseudonym Caspar Babypants, from 2009 until 2021. Ballew's career in music traces back to his street performances in a duo called Egg, during his time in Boston in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Following a brief period in Los Angeles performing with Beck, Ballew returned to Washington and formed the Presidents of the United States of America in 1993, a band that lasted until 2015. In 1998, he started a solo project known as the Giraffes, which turned into a band the following year. In 2009, he launched Caspar Babypants, a children's music project that has since released numerous albums. He has also issued music under his own name. Sykes "Smith" Ballew (January 21, 1902 – May 2, 1984) was an American actor, sophisticated singer, orchestra leader, and a western singing star. He also was billed as Buddy Blue, Charles Roberts, and Billy Smith. Early years The son of William Young Ballew and his wife, May Elizabeth (Smith) Ballew, he was born in Palestine, Texas in 1902, where he grew up attending local schools. He attended Sherman High School, Austin College and the University of Texas. During his time at Austin College, Ballew and his brother, Charlie, formed the Texasjazzers orchestra. Before that, he organized Jimmie's Joys jazz combo at the university, playing banjo and singing with the group. Career Starting in the late 1920s, he became one of the most recognizable vocalists on hundreds of dance band and jazz records, based in New York City. Brady Ballew
Brady James Ballew (born July 3, 1992) is a retired American professional soccer player who played as a midfielder. Career Early career A 2010 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High school and a four-year varsity starter, Ballew helped lead the Tomahawks to their first state appearance since 1985 and a fourth-place finish his junior year. During his senior year he was awarded Seattle Times All-Area and WESCO North MVP and leading goal scorer. Later was awarded first team all-state, second team all-state, two-time all-area first team, two-time first team All-Wesco and two-time honorable mention. Ballew played college soccer at Seattle University between 2010 and 2014. He was the captain for 3 years leading his team to an NCAA tournament appearance his senior year. Ballew was named Tournament MVP and to the All-Tournament Team of Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic in Charleston, S.C. his senior year.
