Ballad Of Seodong
''Ballad of Seodong'' () is a South Korean television series starring Jo Hyun-jae, Lee Bo-young, and Ryu Jin. It aired on SBS from September 5, 2005 to March 21, 2006 on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:55 for 55 episodes. The period drama is based on '' Seodong-yo'', said to be one of Korea's oldest folk songs and its first hyangga. According to the ''Samguk Yusa'' ("Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms") from the Silla Kingdom, the song was written by Seodong, a commoner from the Baekje Kingdom. Hearing that Princess Seonhwa, daughter of King Jinpyeong of Silla, was beautiful, he writes a song saying that the princess visits Seodong's room every night, and it quickly spreads throughout the kingdom and beyond, until it reaches the palace in Silla. When her father hears the song, he condemns the innocent princess to exile. Seodong finds Seonhwa, marries her and takes her to Baekje, and they become the royal rulers of the country. Prince Asa
, was the eldest son of King Wideok of Baekje who was sent to Japan in April, 597 to teach the Japanese Buddhism and become teacher of Prince Shōtoku. Wideok Of Baekje
Wideok (525–598) was the 27th king of Baekje, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, reigning from 554 to 598. He was the eldest son of King Seong, succeeding him upon his death. Background During Seong's reign, Baekje had led an alliance with the neighboring Silla and the Gaya confederacy to attack the powerful northern kingdom of Goguryeo. In 551, Baekje successfully reclaimed from Goguryeo the present-day Seoul region, which was Baekje's capital from its founding until 475. However, Silla betrayed the alliance and, under a secret agreement with Goguryeo, claimed the territory for itself. Beop Of Baekje
Beop (died 600) (r. 599–600) was the 29th king of Baekje, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. He was the eldest son of King Hye. He reigned as Baekje power declined, having lost the Seoul region to the rival Silla kingdom. He may have chosen his name, which translates as "law king" or "dharma king", to emphasize his identification with the Buddhist faith. Beop's brief reign is mostly remembered for his ban on all killing, including hunting and butchering. He ordered the release of falconry, falcons and the burning of fishing and hunting tools.
