Baljit Singh s/o Jigiri Singh ( pa, ਬਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, Baljīt Siṅgh) is one of the Vice Presidents of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN) since November 2018. The Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia ( en, Malaysian People's Movement Party, commonly abbreviated as GERAKAN or less commonly as PGRM) is a liberal political party in Malaysia. Formed in 1968, Gerakan gained prominence in the 1969 general election when it defeated the ruling Alliance Party in Penang and won the majority of seats in Penang's state legislature. In 1972, Gerakan joined the Alliance Party, which later became Barisan Nasional coalition Party (BN), the ruling coalition of Malaysia until 2018. The People's Justice Party ( ms, Parti Keadilan Rakyat , often known simply as KEADILAN or PKR) is a reformist political party in Malaysia, formed in 2003 by a merger of the National Justice Party and the older Malaysian People's Party. The party was led by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and increased its parliamentary representation from one seat to 31 seats in the 2008 general election, until the five-year political ban imposed on former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was lifted on 14 April 2008. Gooi Hsiao Leung (; born 28 December 1972) is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bukit Tengah since May 2018. He also served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Alor Setar from May 2013 to May 2018. 2023 Penang State Election
The 15th Penang state election was held on 12 August 2023 to elect the State Assembly members of the 15th Penang State Legislative Assembly, the legislature of the Malaysian state of Penang. Penang is one of the states which did not dissolve simultaneously with Dewan Rakyat on 10 October 2022. It was decided by Pakatan Harapan on 15 October 2022. In the state election, the Barisan Nasional (BN)-Pakatan Harapan (PH) electoral pact won 29 of 40 seats, with PH winning 27 of those seats and BN winning 2 seats. The Penang State Legislative Assembly is the legislature of the Malaysian state of Penang. It is a unicameral institution, consisting of a total of 40 elected lawmakers representing single-member constituencies throughout Penang. The state legislature, whose members are called State Assemblymen, convenes at the Penang State Assembly Building in Penang's capital city of George Town. The Malaysian People's Party ( abbreviation: PRM; Malay: ''Parti Rakyat Malaysia'') is a political party in Malaysia.
