Baleira
Baleira is a municipality in the Spanish province of Lugo. In 2002, 1,845 people lived in Baleira. It belongs to the comarca of Fonsagrada. The capital of the municipality is O Cádavo, a name often given by extension to the entire municipality. Its population in 2009 was 1,584 people according to the municipal register of inhabitants. It is located on the Camino Primitivo path of the Camino de Santiago. Economy Baleira has always lived on livestock and agriculture. Livestock is a basic pillar of the economy of the municipality for different areas. In the valley area of Eo there are predominantly dairy cows so this area has an important part in milk production in the province of Lugo. In the most mountainous area of the municipality, the most usual Galician cow is called the blonde or ''la llamada rubia Gallega'' in Spanish. Lugo is a province of northwestern Spain, in the northeastern part of the autonomous community of Galicia. It is bordered by the provinces of Ourense, Pontevedra, and A Coruña, the principality of Asturias, the State of León, and in the north by the Cantabrian Sea (Bay of Biscay). The population is 331,327 (2018), of whom a quarter live in the capital Lugo. The capital city was an ancient Celtic settlement named in honour of the god Lugh (see Lyon), later Latinised as ''Lucus Augusti'', and which became one of the three main important Galician-Roman centres alongside Braccara Augusta and Asturica Augusta (modern Braga and Astorga respectively). Lugo (, ; la, Lucus Augusti) is a city in northwestern Spain in the autonomous community of Galicia. It is the capital of the province of Lugo. The municipality had a population of 98,025 in 2018, making it the fourth most populous city in Galicia. Lugo is the only city in the world to be surrounded by completely intact Roman walls, which reach a height of along a circuit ringed with 71 towers. The walk along the top is continuous round the circuit, and features ten gates. These 3rd century walls are protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The city's historic bridge over the Miño is essentially of Roman date, though many repairs over the centuries have effaced its Roman character. Camino Primitivo
The Primitive Way ( es, Camino Primitivo, link=no) is one of the paths of the Camino de Santiago. It begins in the old Asturian capital of Oviedo and runs west to Lugo and then south to Santiago de Compostela joining the more popular French Way in Melide for the last two hiking days. According to the Confraternity of St James, the Camino Primitivo is approximately 320 km (199 miles) in length. Middle Ages The Camino Primitivo is thought of as the "Original Way" because it is reportedly the path taken by the first reported pilgrim, Alfonso II of Asturias (842), nicknamed the Chaste ( es, el Casto, link=no).
