Baldo (Italian Comics)
Baldo is the title character of an Italian comic series created by Luciano Bottaro. He is a Canadian Mountie. Background It debuted in 1952, in the children magazine ''Gaie fantasie''. Its stories were later published, until 1987, in a number of Edizioni Alpe (later Edizioni Bianconi) comic magazines, such as '' Tiramolla'', '' Pepito'' and ''Cucciolo''. Baldo was also the title character of a shortliving comic book series, published from 1979 to 1980. The comic was also published with some success in France, between 1954 and 1982, by the editor Sagéditions. Luciano Bottaro
Luciano Bottaro (16 November 1931 – 25 November 2006) was an Italian comic book artist. Bottaro's characteristic style is highly appreciated in Europe - many countries publish his comics (such as France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and in the former Yugoslavia, as well as such far flung sites as Argentina, Australia and Brazil). He was influenced by Otto Messmer's ''Felix the Cat'', Winsor McCay's ''Little Nemo in Slumberland'', Frederick Burr Opper's ''Happy Hooligan'', Rudolph Dirks's ''the Katzenjammer Kids'', and Barks and Gottfredson's Disney adaptations. Giorgio Rebuffi
Giorgio Rebuffi (7 November 1928 – 15 October 2014) was an Italian comics artist. Born in Milan, Rebuffi started his career in 1949 when, still being a university student at the Faculty of Medicine, he created the character Sceriffo Fox ("Sheriff Fox") for the publisher Edizioni Alpe. Shortly after the publisher placed him in charge to cure the stories of Cucciolo , Cucciolo and Beppe, two characters he revolutionised, changing their appearance, giving them well-defined personalities and enhancing the satirical side of their stories.Franco Fossati, ''I grandi eroi del fumetto'', Gramese, 1990. Carlo Chendi
Angelo Carlo Chendi (10 July 1933 – 12 September 2021) was an Italian cartoonist. Since 1952, Carlo Chendi wrote hundreds of stories with characters from Disney comics. Early life Chendi moved at a young age from Ferrara, to Rapallo, in Liguria, where he started his career as a cartoonist. Career Chendi became one of the pillars of the so-called school of Rapallo, along with Maestro Luciano Bottaro and his friend Giorgio Rebuffi, with whom he founded in 1968 the group Bierrecì (acronym of Bottaro, Rebuffi, Chendi) without, however, stop working with the Mondadori in the realization of Disney stories.
