Balanstraße
The Balanstraße is a street in Munich which begins at the Rosenheimer Platz and runs in a southerly direction through the districts Haidhausen, Giesing and Ramersdorf to the district of Fasangarten. It ends at the border road directly on the city boundary to the municipality Neubiberg in the district of Munich. Description The Balanstraße is, except for a small section between the Rosenheimer Platz and the Metzstraße where it is a one-way street about 30 m long, passable in both directions with one lane in each direction. Between Fasangartenstraße and Grenzstraße it only has one lane for both directions. Bicycle paths run almost continuously along it. History The street was named in 1880 after the French town of Balan near Sedan in the Ardennes. Where in 1870, the Battle of Sedan (Prussia v. Ramersdorf-Perlach
Ramersdorf-Perlach is a borough of Munich. It is located south-east of the city center and is the most populous of Munich's boroughs with a population of about 116,000. It consists of the five districts Ramersdorf, Balanstraße West, Altperlach, Neuperlach and Waldperlach. Haidhausen (Munich)
Haidhausen (Central Bavarian: ''Haidhausn'') is a quarter in Munich, Germany. It is now part of the Stadtbezirk, borough of Au-Haidhausen. Location Haidhausen is bordered to the north by Bogenhausen, Berg am Laim to the east, to the south by Au (Munich), Au, and the west border of the district is delimited by the Isar, Isar river. The boundary of the zone runs north along the Prinzregentenstraße (Munich), Prinzregentenstraße avenue then west of the square Vogelweideplatz between the civic amenity site and the tram depot on the railway track which forms the eastern border, where the entire track is still part of Haidhausen. Paulaner Brewery
Paulaner is a German brewery, established in 1634 in Munich by the Paulaner Order of mendicant friars. Now owned by the Schörghuber family, it is one of the six breweries which provides beer for Oktoberfest. Paulaner ranks number six among Beer in Germany#Breweries, Germany's best-selling beers. History The brewery was founded by the Paulaner Order (the name in Germany for the Order of Minims) after whom it was named. The monks in the Order's Neudeck ob Au (Munich), der Au Monastery in Munich brewed a strong beer, the Paulaner Salvator, naturally according to the Reinheitsgebot, Purity Law of 1516. Whatever they did not drink themselves was given to the poor or sold in the cloister pub.
