FIA Formula 2 Championship
The FIA Formula 2 Championship (F2) is a second-tier single-seater championship organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Held on road racing, racing circuits, the championship was introduced in 2017, following the rebranding of the long-term Formula One feeder series GP2 Series, GP2. The series' original founders were Flavio Briatore and current managing director Bruno Michel. While it is not necessary to do so, most current F1 drivers have participated in Formula 2 or GP2 before graduating to Formula One. It is the last step on the FIA Global Pathway from Karting to Formula One. Formula 2 is designed to create an ideal training ground for life in Formula One and make racing relatively affordable for the teams. The 2018 Baku FIA Formula 2 round was a pair of motor races for Formula 2 cars that took place on 28 and 29 April 2018 at the Baku Street Circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan as part of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. The 2021 Baku Formula 2 round was the 3rd race of the 2021 Formula 2 Championship and took place at the Baku City Circuit from 4 to 6 June. It ran in support of the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and featured three races, including the 100th FIA Formula 2 race on June 5 for sprint race 2. With Jüri Vips winning Sprint Race 2 and Feature Race respectively, it marked the first time in the series' history that a driver was able to win two races in a weekend. Prema Racing, previously known as Prema Powerteam, is an Italian motorsport team, owned and operated through the '' DC Racing Solutions'' parent company. Founded in 1983, the team is based in Grisignano di Zocco and currently operates out of Italy and the US. They are the sister team of Iron Lynx Motorsport Lab and Iron Dames.
