Bakkar Ibn Abd Allah
''Bakkar'' () is an Egyptian cartoon series that was produced by the Egyptian Radio and Television Union to be aired on Channel One and was traditionally broadcast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan from 1998 to 2004, and from 2011 to 2015, running for a total of 11 seasons. The series revolves around the adventures of a young Nubian-Egyptian boy named Bakkar, his pet goat Rashida, and his friends. It was written by Amr Samir Serif, and directed by . The opening and closing songs are by famed Nubian-Egyptian singer Mohammed Mounir, and written by longtime collaborator Kawthar Mostafa. Sherif Nour is one of the composers. The National Media Authority (), formerly known as Egyptian State Broadcasting (ESU; ), is the public broadcaster of Egypt, operated by the Egyptian government. It is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ABSU). History Egyptian Radio began broadcasting on 31 May 1934 in agreement with the Marconi Company. Nubians () ( Nobiin: ''Nobī,'' ) are a Nilo-Saharan speaking ethnic group indigenous to the region which is now northern Sudan and southern Egypt. Sherif Nour
Sherif Nour (; born 28 July 1958) is an Egyptian composer. Brought up in Cairo, Nour studied at composition at Helwan University. He has composed for various television, radio serials and films, including providing music for 270 episodes of the Egyptian cartoon '' Bakaar''. Early life Nour was born on 28 July 1958. He was brought up in Cairo, Egypt. Nour was born into an artistic family: his father was a theatre critic and script writer. Education After completing his high school education Nour studied music, harmony, and music composing at Helwan University. He had originally joined the university's Faculty of Law but left after his father advised him to join the Faculty of Musical Education instead. In the seventies Nour formed a band named Sunshine, which performed Latin music. The band held concerts at clubs, including Heliopolis, Heliolido and El Tayaran.
