The Baker-Brook River is a tributary of the Saint John River (Bay of Fundy), flowing in Madawaska County, in the northwest part of the New Brunswick, in Canada. Geography The Baker-Brook River rises in Lac Baker (New Brunswick) (length: ; height: ). The northern part of the lake stretches toward the northwest at Quebec, in the municipality of Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande, Quebec. This lake has a central island with a length of and a maximum width of , counting about fifty chalets. This lake supplies water from Kitchen Creek (from the West or from the Quebec); the mouth of the latter is located on the provincial border in the northwest part of the lake. Baker River (Chile)
The Baker River is a river located in the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region of the Chilean Patagonia. It is Chile's largest river in terms of volume of water. The river flows out of Bertrand Lake, which is fed by General Carrera Lake. It runs along the east side of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field and empties into the Pacific Ocean, near the town of Caleta Tortel. The river forms a delta, dividing into two major arms, of which only the northernmost one is navigable. Its characteristic turquoise-blue color is due to the glacial sediments deposited in it. It was the proposed site of a controversial major hydro-electric project, involving five dams, to be the biggest in the history of Chile. Called HidroAysén, the project was a joint venture between Endesa Chile a subsidiary of the international energy conglomerate Enel, and Colbún S.A. a subsidiary of Minera Valparaíso. The Baker River, or ''Asquamchumauke'' (an Abenaki word meaning "salmon spawning place"), is a river in the White Mountains region of New Hampshire in the United States. It rises on the south side of Mount Moosilauke and runs south and east to empty into the Pemigewasset River in Plymouth. The river traverses the towns of Warren, Wentworth, and Rumney. It is part of the Merrimack River watershed. The Baker River's name recalls Lt. Thomas Baker (1682–1753), whose company of 34 scouts from Northampton, Massachusetts, passed down the river's valley in 1712 and destroyed a Pemigewasset Indian village. Along this river on April 28, 1752, John Stark and Amos Eastman were captured by Abenaki warriors and taken to Saint-François-du-Lac, Quebec, near Montreal. John Stark's brother William Stark escaped, and David Stinson was killed during the ambush.
