Baines School
Baines School is a secondary school in Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lancashire, England. It was founded through James Baines will in 1717 and is a former grammar school. It was one of three schools set up in Baines' will, the others being at Marton and Thornton. In the mid-19th century, the school was teaching around 100 pupils without charging fees. Voluntary Aided School
A voluntary aided school (VA school) is a state-funded school in England and Wales in which a foundation or trust (usually a religious organisation), contributes to building costs and has a substantial influence in the running of the school. Richard Gleeson
Richard James Gleeson (born 2 December 1987) is an English cricketer, who plays for Lancashire in domestic cricket. He made his international debut for the England cricket team in July 2022. Career He made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire against the Australians on 15 August 2015 and his List A debut for Northamptonshire against Lancashire on 8 June 2016 in the Royal London One-Day Cup. Fred Pagnam
Fred Pagnam (4 September 1891 – 1 March 1962) was an English footballer and manager. Pagnam played as a forward in the Football League for clubs Huddersfield Town, Blackpool, Liverpool, Arsenal, Cardiff City and Watford, and in non-league football for Lytham, Blackpool Wednesday, Doncaster Rovers, Southport Central and Gainsborough Trinity. As manager, he took charge of Watford, Galatasaray, the Turkish national team, and several clubs in the Netherlands. Dave Durie
David George Durie (13 August 1931 – 30 August 2016) was an English professional footballer. He played as a forward and spent the majority of his playing career at Blackpool. Career Blackpool-born Durie began his professional career with his hometown club in 1952. He was signed as a deputy to Allan Brown, but eventually succeeded him. He made his Football League debut on 23 February 1953 in a 2–0 defeat at Charlton Athletic. He made seven more league appearances that season, and scored one goal in a 5–1 defeat at Middlesbrough on 11 April. In 1953–54, Durie made three league appearances. Barry Mason
John Barry Mason (12 July 1935 – 16 April 2021) was an English singer and songwriter. A leading songwriter of the 1960s, he wrote the bulk of his most successful songs in partnership with Les Reed. Mason gained many gold and platinum awards for his work including five Ivor Novello Awards, the most recent of them in 1998. Ian Stuart Donaldson (11 August 1957 – 24 September 1993), also known as Ian Stuart, was an English neo-Nazi musician. He was best known as the front-man of Skrewdriver, a Punk band which, from 1982 onwards, he rebranded as a Rock Against Communism band. He raised money through nationalist concerts with his Blood & Honour network. Daniel J Whiston (born 21 November 1976 in Blackpool) is an English ice skater. He appeared in ''Strictly Ice Dancing'' on BBC One and for all series of ITV show ''Dancing on Ice'' since its inception in 2006. Arnold Heyworth Beckett (12 February 1920 – 25 January 2010) was a British pharmacist, academic, and expert on doping in sport. Early life Beckett was born on 12 February 1920 in The Fylde, Lancashire, England. He was educated at Baines School, then a grammar school in Poulton-le-Fylde. Michael Peter Barnett (24 March 1929 – 13 March 2012) was a British theoretical chemist and computer scientist. He developed mathematical and computer techniques for quantum chemical problems, and some of the earliest software for several other kinds of computer application. After his early days in London, Essex and Lancashire, he went to King's College, London, in 1945, the Royal Radar Establishment in Malvern in 1953, IBM UK in 1955, the University of Wisconsin Department of Chemistry in 1957, and the MIT Solid State and Molecular Theory Group in 1958.
