Bailong River
The Bailong River () or Khuchu, Drukchu () is a 576km-long river in the Yangtze River basin. From its source to confluence with the Jialing River, the Bailong is actually longer and is thus the main stem of the Jialing River system. The scenic Jiuzhaigou reserve is found along one of the Bailong's tributaries. Two reservoirs have been constructed in Wen County ( Bikou Dam). The reservoirs serve to provide hydroelectricity, aquaculture, flood control, irrigation and for tourism development. History In August 2010, heavy rains triggered a mudslide that dammed the river in Zhugqu County, Gansu, causing extensive damage and killing over a thousand people. 2010 Gansu Mudslide
The 2010 Gansu mudslide was a deadly mudslide in Zhouqu County, Gansu Province, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, China that occurred at midnight on 8 August 2010. The floods were triggered after decades of clearcutting, clear cut logging practices had reduced the ability of the watershed to absorb heavy rainfall. It was the most deadly individual disaster of the 2010 China floods. The mudflow, mudslides killed more than 1,471 people , while 1,243 others have been rescued and 294 remain missing. The missing were presumed dead as officials ordered locals to stop searching for survivors or bodies to prevent the spread of disease. Over 1,700 people evacuated have been living in schools. Songpan
Songpan County, formerly Songzhou, is a county in northwestern Sichuan province, China, and is one of the 13 counties administered by the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. It has an area of , and a population of approximately 68,000 composed of Tibetan, Qiang, Han and Hui populations. History The ancient city of Songpan was built during the Tang dynasty and it was later rebuilt during Ming dynasty. Songpan was an important military post. Longnan
Longnan ( zh, t= , s= , p=Lǒngnán , l="south of Mount Long") is a prefecture-level city in the southeast of Gansu province in China. It borders Sichuan on its south and Shaanxi on its east. As of the 2020 Chinese census, the population of the prefecture-level city was 2,855,555. Min Mountains
Min Mountains or Minshan () are a mountain range in central China. It runs in the general north-south direction through northern Sichuan (the eastern part of the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture and adjacent areas of Mianyang Prefecture-level city) and southernmost borderlands of Gansu. Flood Control
Flood management or flood control are methods used to reduce or prevent the detrimental effects of flood waters. Flooding can be caused by a mix of both natural processes, such as extreme weather upstream, and human changes to waterbodies and runoff.
