Baileyoxylon
''Baileyoxylon'' is a monotypic genus in the family Achariaceae. The sole described species is ''Baileyoxylon lanceolatum'' which is restricted to a very small part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland. It was described in the mid 20th century. Description ''Baileyoxylon lanceolatum'' is an evergreen tree growing up to about tall with medium grey bark and branchlets that are covered in rusty brown hairs. The dark green leaves are rather thick and measure up to long by wide, with 7–10 pairs of secondary veins either side of the midrib. They are obovate to oblong in shape, acuminate (pointed) at the tip and cuneate (tapering) at the base, and they have a relatively long petiole. The much-branched inflorescence can reach up to long and is also covered with rusty brown hairs. The small flowers are about long and have 5 petals. Achariaceae Genera
Achariaceae is a family of flowering plants consisting of 31 genera and about 155 species of tropical herbs, shrubs, and trees. The APG IV system has greatly expanded the scope of the family by including many genera previously classified in Flacourtiaceae. Molecular data strongly support the inclusion of this family in the order Malpighiales. The family is almost exclusively tropical and is best known as the source of chaulmoogra oil, formerly used to treat leprosy. Unlike other members of the former Flacourtiaceae now placed in the family Salicaceae, the genera of Achariaceae typically have cyanogenic glycosides. Cyril Tenison White
Cyril Tenison White (17 August 1890 – 15 August 1950) was an Australian botanist. Early life White was born in Brisbane, Queensland, to Henry White, a trade broker, and Louisa (''nee'' Bailey). He attended school at South Brisbane State School, and was appointed pupil-assistant to the Colonial Botanist of Queensland in 1905, a position previously held by his grandfather on his mother's side, Frederick Manson Bailey. White also succeeded his uncle, John Frederick Bailey, in becoming Queensland's Government Botanist in 1917. Personal life White married Henrietta Duncan Clark, a field naturalist and avid hiker, at South Brisbane on 21 October 1921. They married in Baptist tradition. Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) is a project undertaken by the Parks Australia Division of Australia's Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Background ABRS was founded in 1973 from the recommendations of a 1972 Senate Select Committee report on Wildlife Conservation.
