Bahwartah
Bahwartah (, also spelled ''Bhorta'' or ''Bahirta'') is a village in northern Aleppo Governorate, northwestern Syria. It is located on the Queiq Plain, between Sawran and Al-Rai, about northeast of the city of Aleppo, and south of the border with the Turkish province of Kilis. The village is inhabited by Turkmen. Administratively the village belongs to Nahiya Akhtarin in A'zaz District Azaz District () is a district of Aleppo Governorate in northern Syria. The administrative centre is the city of Azaz. At the 2004 census, the district had a population of 251,769. The district lies between Afrin District to the west, Mount Sime .... Nahiya Akhtarin
Akhtarin Subdistrict () is the easternmost subdistrict of Azaz District in the northern Aleppo Governorate of northern Syria, on the border with Turkey. Its administrative centre and largest town is Akhtarin. Its town of Dabiq is notable for the battle of Marj Dabiq in 1516, and its place in Islamic eschatology. Neighbouring subdistricts are Sawran Subdistrict (northwest) and Mare' Subdistrict (southwest), both in Azaz District, as well as al-Rai Subdistrict (northeast) and al-Bab Subdistrict (southeast), both belonging to al-Bab District. To the north is the Kilis Province of Turkey. At the 2004 census, the subdistrict had a population of 39,385. Sawran, Aleppo Governorate
Sawran (), also spelled Suran, Souran or Sawwaran, is a town in northern Aleppo Governorate, northwestern Syria. Located north of the city of Aleppo, it is the administrative centre of Nahiya Sawran in Azaz District. Nearby localities include A'zaz and Kafra to the west, Ihtaimlat and Dabiq to the east and Mare' to the south. In the 2004 census, Sawran had a population of 6,988. The town is mainly inhabited by Turkmens. History Sawran's history dates back to the Iron Age when it was an Aramaean settlement in the Kingdom of Bit Adini known as "Surunu." In a military campaign against Bit Adini's king Ahuni, the Neo-Assyrian king Shalmaneser III raided and captured Surunu. It later came under the rule of Assyrian king Tiglath Pileser III.
