Bahman Players
Bahman (, ) is the eleventh and penultimate month of the Solar Hijri calendar, the official calendar of Iran and Afghanistan. Bahman has thirty days. It begins in January and ends in February of the Gregorian calendar. The month is equivalent to Aquarius (astrology), Aquarius in the Zodiac. Bahman is the second month of winter, and is followed by Esfand. In modern Persian "Bahman" literally means "Snow Avalanche". But Bahman is also thought to be a derivative modern form of ''Vohu Manah''. ''Vôhü Manö'' consists of two parts: ''VÔHÜ'' coming from the root ''vah'', from Proto-Indo-European language, Proto-Indo-European ''*ves'' 'to revere, stand in awe of', and ''MAN'' meaning 'passion, determination, spirit, mind power'. Solar Hijri Calendar
The Solar Hijri calendar is the official calendar of Iran. It is a solar calendar, based on the Earth's orbit around the Sun. Each year begins on the day of the March equinox and has years of 365 or 366 days. It is sometimes also called the Shamsi calendar, Khorshidi calendar or Persian calendar. It is abbreviated as SH, HS, AP, or, sometimes as AHSh, while the lunar Hijri calendar (commonly known in the West as the 'Islamic calendar') is usually abbreviated as AH. The epoch (very first day) of the Solar Hijri calendar was the day of the spring equinox, March 19, 622 CE. The calendar is a "Hijri calendar" because that was the year that Mohammed is believed to have left from Mecca to Medina, which event is referred to as the Hijrah. Sadeh
Sadeh ( also transliterated as ''Sade''), is an Iranian festival that dates back to the Achaemenid Empire. ''Sadeh'' is celebrated 50 days before Nowruz. Sadeh in Persian means "hundred" and refers to the one hundred days and nights remaining to the beginning of spring. Sadeh is a mid-winter festival that was celebrated with grandeur and magnificence in ancient Persia. It was a festivity to honor fire and to defeat the forces of darkness, frost, and cold. Bahmanagān
Bahmanagān () or BAHMANJANA (Arabicized form of Middle Persian Bahmanagān; forms such as Bahmaṇča () or Bahmaṇčena are also found) was a Zoroastrian Iranian festival which was maintained until the Mongol invasion by Iranian Muslims.
