The Badlands Big Sticks are a collegiate summer baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League. Based in Dickinson, North Dakota, the Big Sticks play their home games at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark. History The Big Sticks were founded in 2017 as a charter member of the Expedition League, beginning play in its inaugural 2018 season. Theodore Roosevelt National Park

The Minot Hot Tots are a baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League (a collegiate summer baseball league). Based in Minot, North Dakota, the Hot Tots play their home games at Corbett Field. History On February 16, 2022, the Minot Parks and Recreation Board voted in favor of entering into negotiations with the Northwoods League to bring an expansion team to the city to replace the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs of the Expedition League, whose lease on Corbett Field had expired and were set to disband following the 2022 season. The negotiations proved successful, and the Northwoods League held a press conference at Corbett Field on August 24 to announce that a new expansion team in the league would be coming to Minot, to begin play in the summer of 2023. The Bismarck Larks are a collegiate summer baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League. Based in Bismarck, North Dakota, the Larks play their home games at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark. History On August 28, 2015, it was announced that the Northwoods League had agreed to terms for a team to begin play in Bismarck for 2017. Said team officially began promotions on June 6, 2016, with the launch of the name-the-team contest, with Larks, Bullies and Flickertails being announced as the three finalists on July 29. The Bismarck Larks name, logo and colors were officially unveiled on October 13. In 2020, they are playing against two temporary teams (Bismarck Bull-Moose and Mandan Flickertails) in Bismarck with players from Thunder Bay Border Cats and other locations. Northwoods League
The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league. All players in the league must have National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate. The league is amateur, and players are not paid, so as to maintain their college eligibility. Graduated senior pitchers are also eligible to play in the Northwoods League. Each team may have four of these players at a time. Teams play 72 games scheduled from Memorial Day to the 2nd Saturday in August, while the playoffs take place the week after, starting on that Sunday and ending usually on Friday. The season itself is broken into two halves, with the winners of each half in each of the four sub-divisions playing against each other to determine a sub-divisional champion in a best-of-three series. Collegiate Summer Baseball
Collegiate summer baseball leagues are amateur baseball leagues in the United States and Canada featuring players who have attended at least one year of college and have at least one year of athletic eligibility remaining. Generally, they operate from early June to early August. In contrast to college baseball, which allow aluminum or other composite baseball bats, players in these leagues use only wooden bats, hence the common nickname of these leagues as "wood-bat leagues". Collegiate summer leagues allow college baseball players the ability to compete using professional rules and equipment, giving them experience and allowing professional scouts the opportunity to observe players under such conditions.
