Badge (song)
"Badge" is a song written by Eric Clapton and George Harrison, and recorded by British rock music group Cream on their final album, '' Goodbye''. Also issued as a single in March 1969, "Badge" peaked at number 18 in the UK Singles Chart and number 60 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. Composition "Badge" was originally an untitled track. During the production transfer for the album ''Goodbye'', the original music sheet was used to produce the liner notes and track listing. The only discernible word on the page was "bridge" (indicating the song's bridge section). Due to Harrison's handwriting, however, Clapton misread it as "badge"—and the song was thus titled soon thereafter. Harrison remembered the story thus: "I helped Eric write "Badge" you know. Cream (band)
Cream were a British rock supergroup formed in London in 1966. The group consisted of bassist Jack Bruce, guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. Bruce was the primary songwriter and vocalist, although Clapton and Baker contributed to songs. Formed by members of previously successful bands, they are widely considered the first supergroup. Cream were highly regarded for the instrumental proficiency of each of their members. During their brief three-year career, the band released four albums: '' Fresh Cream'' (1966), '' Disraeli Gears'' (1967), '' Wheels of Fire'' (1968), and '' Goodbye'' (1969). Liner notes (also sleeve notes or album notes) are the writings found on the sleeves of LP record albums and in booklets that come inserted into the compact disc jewel case or cassette j-cards. Origin Liner notes are descended from the program notes for musical concerts, and developed into notes that were printed on the outer album jacket or the inner sleeve used to protect a traditional 12-inch vinyl record, i.e., long playing or gramophone record album. Ginger Baker
Peter Edward "Ginger" Baker (19 August 1939 – 6 October 2019) was an English drummer. His work in the 1960s and 1970s earned him the reputation of "rock's first superstar drummer", for a style that melded jazz and Music of Africa, African rhythms and pioneered both jazz fusion and world music. Baker gained early fame as a member of Blues Incorporated and the Graham Bond Organisation, both times alongside bassist Jack Bruce, with whom Baker would often clash. Jack Bruce
John Symon Asher Bruce (14 May 1943 – 25 October 2014) was a Scottish musician. He gained popularity as the primary lead vocalist and bassist of Rock music, rock band Cream (band), Cream. After the group disbanded in 1968, he pursued a solo career and also played with several bands. In the early 1960s, Bruce joined the Graham Bond Organisation (GBO), where he met future Cream bandmate Ginger Baker. After leaving the band, he briefly joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, where he met Eric Clapton. In 1966, after a short time with Manfred Mann (band), Manfred Mann, he formed Cream with lead guitarist Clapton and drummer Baker. Harrisongs Ltd is a music publishing company, founded in 1964 by English musician and songwriter George Harrison, then a member of the Beatles. On 11 September 1964, Harrison created Mornyork Ltd, which, by 7 December that year, had changed its name to Harrisongs Ltd. The company is headquartered at 27 Ovington Square in London's Knightsbridge district, in the same building that houses the Beatles' Apple Corps. ''Best of Cream'' is a compilation album of material recorded from 1966 to 1968 by the rock band Cream and released shortly after their disbanding. It was originally released by Cream's U.S. label Atco (Atlantic) Records (catalog no. SD 33-291) and was available on that label during the years 1969–1972. It got a UK release later in 1969 on Polydor Records, who also issued the album in other territories outside the U.S. The album was briefly reissued in the U.S. in 1977 by RSO/Polydor, to whom U.S. distribution rights for Cream's recordings had reverted by that time. A re-release was pressed in 2014 by Polydor on 180g vinyl (catalog no. 535 113-8). Wally Heider Studios was a recording studio founded in San Francisco in 1969 by recording engineer and studio owner Wally Heider.
