London: George Newnes, 1961, Vol. 2, p. 47. They are characterized by steep slopes, minimal vegetation, lack of a substantial regolith, and high drainage density.A.J. Parsons and A.D. Abrahams, Editors (2009) ''Geomorphology of Desert Environments'' (2nd ed.) Springer Science & Business Media Ravines, gullies, buttes, hoodoos and other such geologic forms are common in badlands. Badlands are found on every continent except Antarctica, being most common where there are unconsolidated sediments. They are often difficult to navigate by foot, and are unsuitable for agriculture. John Anthony David Sloman (born 26 April 1957) is best known as the lead vocalist for Welsh band Lone Star during 1977/78 and classic rockers Uriah Heep from 1979 to 1981. Biography Sloman's first band of note was local Cardiff act Trapper (with Pino Palladino) before he joined Lone Star in time for their 1977 second album, '' Firing on All Six'', supported by a Reading Festival appearance on 26 August 1977, a headline tour, and another tour with Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush later that same year. Lone Star disbanded before a third album could be completed as guitarist Paul Chapman left to take Michael Schenker's spot in UFO. Four songs from a BBC broadcast with Sloman, recorded 29 September 1977 at Queen Mary College, were released in 1994 as part of ''BBC Radio One Live in Concert''. Badlands (Swedish Musical Act)
Badlands is the musical solo name used by producer, composer and sound designer Catharina Jaunviksna. With a wide inspirational range from post punk to warehouse techno-like ambiences, she makes tracks rooted in vintage electronics, gritty pedal work, samples and organic orchestration. Jaunviksna started to explore analog midi and sampling as a teenager, finding a musical sanctuary in her own electronic compositions. Merging from music to sound design, she attended the sound design program at the reputable National Film School of Denmark 2009–2011, but became the educations first dropout due to her constant longing to make music. She then formed Badlands as a home for her new electroacoustic fusions with vocals and released first Badlands EP ''Battles Within'' (2012), followed by album ''Locus'' (2016). Acclaimed album ''Djinn'' was released in 2021 as a memorial to her late mother. November 18, 2022 Badlands released her third studio album ''Call to Love'' followed by a remix ...

Blessing In Disguise (Metal Church Album)
''Blessing in Disguise'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Metal Church, released on February 7, 1989. Overview ''Blessing in Disguise'' was Metal Church's final release on Elektra Records, and the first album not to feature the vocals of David Wayne, due to his departure to form the band Reverend. This album marked the band's debut with vocalist Mike Howe (formerly of Heretic) and guitarist John Marshall, replacing Wayne and Kurdt Vanderhoof respectively. Vanderhoof had produced Heretic's final album ''Breaking Point'' previously. It seems that this is how Howe came to the attention of Metal Church. Wayne's new project was made up of the remaining members of Heretic. ''Blessing in Disguise'' also marked the second and last time Metal Church had worked with Terry Date, who also produced the band's 1984 self-titled debut album. Although Vanderhoof was technically no longer an official member of the band at this point, he composed the music and lyrics for s ...

Flick Of The Switch
''Flick of the Switch'' is the ninth studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. The album was deemed a commercial disappointment after it failed to match the sales figures of the band's two previous releases, 1980's ''Back in Black'' and 1981's '' For Those About to Rock'', and its release represented the beginning of the band's commercial decline. Despite this, opinions of ''Flick of the Switch'' have been quite positive in the years since its release, and the album has often been mentioned as one of the best releases of 1983. The third AC/DC album to feature lead vocalist Brian Johnson, the album is also the last to feature drummer Phil Rudd before his return on ''Ballbreaker'' (1995). The album was re-released in 2003 as part of the ''AC/DC Remasters'' series. Recording AC/DC returned to Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas to record their ninth album, the same studio where they had recorded ''Back in Black'' with Robert John "Mutt" Lange in 1980. Lange had produced ...

Badlands (Bruce Springsteen Song)
"Badlands" is the lead track on Bruce Springsteen's fourth studio album '' Darkness on the Edge of Town'', and its second single. Origins According to Springsteen, he came up with the title "Badlands" before he started writing the song. He felt it was a "great title" but that it would be easy to blow it by not writing a worthy song for it. The riff is based on The Animals' "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". According to the editors of ''Rolling Stone'', the song "tapped into the ferocity of the punk singles he'd been listening to at the time". Themes The song tells the story of a man down on his luck and angry at the world, who wants a better lot in life. On March 15, 2012, in a keynote speech to an audience at the South by Southwest music festival, Springsteen discussed the Animals' influence on his music at length, praising their harsh, propulsive sound and lyrical content. Saying that '' Darkness on the Edge of Town'' was "filled with Animals", Springsteen played the open ...
