The Karan or Karana is a community found in the state of Odisha in India. The post of Karana used to be a professional designation that was occupied by literate peoples. Aparajita Mohanty
Aparajita Mohanty (née Khan; born 31 January 1962) is an Indian actress who mostly appears in Cinema of Odisha, Odia film industry. She started her career with Sita Labakusha in 1980. Apart from big screen, she played various roles in some Odia television serials. Early life and family Mohanty was born at Karanjia in Odisha, India to Abdul Aziz Khan and Harapriya Ray. She grew up in Sambalpur. Her paternal grandfather Maulvi Abdus Sobhan Khan was the Law minister of the Orissa Province from 1941 till 1944. Her uncle Rajkishore Ray is a popular literary person in Odisha, whose daughter Mahasweta Ray is her cousin. She married Odia actor Uttam Mohanty in 1987. Hara Patnaik
Hara Pattanaik (12 October 1958 – 13 January 2015), also known as Hari Patnaik, was an Indian actor, director and screenplay writer known for his works in Odia cinema. He has acted over 60 Odia language, Odia-language movies and directed about 19 others. Pattanaik was instrumental in introducing other actors including Anubhav Mohanty, Sabyasachi Mishra and Babushaan. He died of cancer on 13 January 2015. Uttam Mohanty (23 December 1958 – 27 February 2025) was an Indian film and television actor who had to his credit more than 135 Odia films and acted in 30 Bengali films and in a Hindi film '' Naya Zaher''. Early life Mohanty was born and brought up in Baripada in a Karan family. His grandfather settled in Baripada 150 years ago. He completed his early education from M.K.C. High School.
