Babahoyo
Babahoyo (), founded May 27, 1948, by legislative decree, is the capital of the Los Ríos province of Ecuador. Its population is cited around 98,000. It is bordered by two rivers, the San Pablo and the Caracol, which join to form the Babahoyo River. This meets the Daule River to form the Guayas River, which runs to the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Guayaquil. A processing and trade center for the surrounding agricultural region, the city handles rice, sugarcane, fruits, balsa wood, and tagua nuts (vegetable ivory). Rice and sugar are also milled here. Geography The city is located in on the left bank of the San Pablo River, which unites in its estuary with the Catarama River to form the Babahoyo River. One of the most interesting excursions one can take in the area is a boat trip on the Babahoyo River. Our Lady Of Mercy Cathedral, Babahoyo
The Our Lady of Mercy Cathedral () also called Babahoyo Cathedral It is a Religion, religious building is located opposite the 24 de Mayo park, in the city of Babahoyo capital of Canton Babahoyo in the province of Los Rios, in the heart of the South American country of Ecuador. The cathedral follows the Roman or Latin rite and serves as headquarters of the Diocese of Babahoyo in the ecclesial province of Guayaquil (''Dioecesis Babahoiensis''). Diocese was created in 1994 by bull ''Constat praelaturam'' of Pope John Paul II, based on the previous territorial prelature created in created in 1951 by Pope Pius XII. It was dedicated to the Virgin Mary in her title of Our Lady of Mercy. It is under the pastoral responsibility of the Bishop Marcos Aurelio Pérez Caicedo. The cantons of Ecuador are the second-level subdivisions of Ecuador, below the provinces. The cantons are further subdivided into parishes, which are classified as either urban or rural. Guayas River
The Guayas River (Rio Guayas) is a major river in western Ecuador. It gives its name to the Guayas Province of Ecuador. Its total length, including the Daule River, is 389 km (241 mi). The Guayas River's drainage basin is 34,500 km2 (13,320 sq.mi) and it has an average discharge of 70,000 cu ft/s (1,982 m3/s). It is the national river of Ecuador and is present on the coat of arms of Ecuador.
