Baba Aliyev
Baba Balababa oghlu Aliyev (, March 22, 1915 — March 27, 1991) was an Azerbaijani painter, People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR, Chairman of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. Biography Baba Aliyev was born on March 22, 1915, in Zira settlement. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State Art School in 1937, and in 1941 from the Moscow State Art Institute named after Surikov. Baba Aliyev had been a member of the CPSU since 1945. He served as chairman of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan and was a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR. The artist taught at the Azerbaijan State Art School named after Azim Azimzade in 1946-1960. Baba Aliyev died on March 27, 1991, in Baku. Career Portraits and still lifes are the main genres in the artist's work. He started art in the years of the Great Patriotic War, and the artistic images of frontline fighters have a special place in his work during these years. Artists' Union Of The USSR
The Artists' Union of the USSR () was a creative union of the Soviet artists and art critics embracing the Republics of the Soviet Union. The Union was founded started in 1932 to supersede the AKhRR. The integral Union was instituted in 1957. By January 1, 1976, the Union included 14,538 members. It was officially disbanded at its 8th Congress in January 1992 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, with its rights distributed over the corresponding unions in the post-Soviet states. Azerbaijani National Encyclopedia () is a universal encyclopedic book written in the Azerbaijani language and has been published since 2007. The main building of the publisher is situated in Old City (Baku) (İçeri Şəhər), Böyük Qala Street. Historical overview The initial attempt to publish the Azerbaijani encyclopedia was in the early years of the 20th century, but it was not published at that time. The decree for the Publication of the Azerbaijani Soviet Encyclopedia was signed on December 30, 1965, and the first volume was published in 1970, but publication was suspended because of non-compliance with Soviet regulations. By the order in 1975, the encyclopedia was restored. During the years of 1976–1987, the publication of a new version of the encyclopedia was completed, replacing the previous version. The Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR, later renamed as the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan Republic from 1991 until its abolition in 1995, was the supreme soviet (main legislative institution) of the Azerbaijan SSR, and later the Republic of Azerbaijan.
