Baatarsuren Shuudertsetseg
Baatarsuren Togtokhbayar ( mn, Баатарсүрэнгийн Тогтохбаяр; born January 18, 1971), known by her pen name Shuudertsetseg ( mn, Шүүдэрцэцэг) is a Mongolian journalist, author, filmmaker, and humanitarian. She has received numerous Mongolian literary awards including ‘Featured Book’ awards in 2007 for her novel ''Шүрэн бугуйвч'' (Coral Bracelet) and in 2008 for her CD ''Шүүдэрцэцэг'' (Shuudertsetseg). Her 2010 novel ''Домогт Ану хатан'' (The Legendary Queen Anu) was named National Book of the Year for Mongolian Literature. In 2012 she wrote the screenplay for, produced, and directed the film version of ''Домогт Ану хатан'', released internationally as “Warrior Princess”. In addition to her film and writing careers, Shuudertsetseg is noted for her humanitarian efforts. Ulaanbaatar (; mn, Улаанбаатар, , "Red Hero"), previously anglicized as Ulan Bator, is the capital and most populous city of Mongolia. It is the coldest capital city in the world, on average. The municipality is located in north central Mongolia at an elevation of about in a valley on the Tuul River. The city was originally founded in 1639 as a nomadic Buddhist monastic center, changing location 28 times, and was permanently settled at its current location in 1778.
