Bangladesh University of Textiles, commonly referred to as BUTEX, is a public university in Bangladesh, situated in Tejgaon, Dhaka. It is the only public university in Bangladesh to teach textile engineering. The institution established education which sustains the entrepreneurship and industrialisation in the RMG industry of Bangladesh. This institution has nine (9) government textile engineering affiliated colleges, each of which is textile based institutes of technology. The colleges are centrally regulated by the university while funding is provisioned under a bilateral Memorandum of understanding signed between Ministry of Education, Bangladesh and Department of Textiles, Bangladesh. Pabna Textile Engineering College is a government educational institution in Pabna, Bangladesh that offers a bachelor's degree in textile engineering. It is operated by a department of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, and an affiliated college of the Bangladesh University of Textiles. History Pabna Government Weaving School was established in 1915. It was one of five such outlying schools affiliated to the Serampore Weaving Institute. The school offered a course three to six months in duration, given in Bengali, that taught "practical weaving, design and analysis of cloth, yarn calculation and drawing". The college is academically operated by BUTEX and was previously affiliated with University of Dhaka under its faculty of science and engineering for nine years. Bangladesh Sericulture Research And Training Institute
The Bangladesh Sericulture Research and Training Institute is an autonomous national research institute that carries out research on sericulture (silk farming) and supports the sericulture industry in Bangladesh. The organization is located in the city of Rajshahi. History The institute traces its origins to the Silk Institute that was established in Rajshahi in 1898, during the colonial British Raj period. During the post-colonial East Pakistan period (1955–1971) there were two institutes, the Silk Research Institute and Silk Technology Institute. Following national independence, the institutes were merged to form Silk Research and Training Institute in 1974. Now renamed the Sericulture Research and Training Institute, it is under the Bangladesh Sericulture Board. The institute is the only one in Bangladesh specializing in silk research.
