''BMC Veterinary Research'' is a peer-reviewed open access veterinary science and medical journal that launched in 2005 published by BioMed Central. ''Veterinary Research'' is an international open access journal focusing on animal infectious diseases. ''Veterinary Research'' publishes original papers and reviews on host-pathogen interactions. Thematics are bacteriology, epidemiology, immunology, parasitology, prion diseases and virology. It was originally established as ''Annales de Recherches Vétérinaires'' (1970–1992), which itself superseded ''Recherches Vétérinaires'' (1968–1969). The journal acquired its current name in 1993. ''Current Contents'' is a rapid alerting service database from Clarivate, formerly the Institute for Scientific Information and Thomson Reuters. It is published online and in several different printed subject sections. History ''Current Contents'' was first published in paper format, in a single edition devoted only to biology and medicine. Other subject editions were added later. Initially, it consisted simply of a reproduction of the title pages from several hundred major peer-reviewed scientific journals, and was published weekly, with the issues containing title pages from journal issues only a few weeks previously, a shorter time lag than any service then available. Veterinary medicine in the United Kingdom is the performance of veterinary medicine by licensed professionals. It is strictly regulated by the statute law, notably the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966.
