Bangladesh Infantry Regiment
The Bangladesh Infantry Regiment (BIR) is an infantry regiment ( regimental system type) of the Bangladesh Army. It was raised in 2001 as the second combat regiment after the East Bengal Regiment. The regiment was raised initially by transferring units of the East Bengal Regiment to the new Bangladesh Infantry Regiment centre, before its own recruits were trained. This regiment was the first new unit raised by Bangladesh Army in the 21st Century, and consequently is also known as the ''Regiment of the Millennium''. Role Its stated role is to seek out, close with and destroy the enemy, within a traditional infantry combat scenario, however, the regiment also provides aid to the civilian government when called upon and also contributes regularly to Bangladesh's peacekeeping commitments overseas. ''Bir'' ( bn, বীর) is a 2020 Bangladeshi political action-drama film written and directed by Kazi Hayat. It features Shakib Khan and Shabnom Bubly in the lead roles. It is co-produced by Shakib Khan and Mohammad Iqbal under the banner of SK Films. Principal photography began on 15 July 2019, and wrapped up in January 2020. Bir Salim ( ar, بئر سالم) was a Palestinian Arab village in the Ramle Subdistrict of Mandatory Palestine. It was depopulated during the 1947–48 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine on May 9, 1948, by the Givati Brigade. It was located 4 km west of Ramla. Bir Ma'in
Bir Ma'in was a Palestinian Arab village in the Ramle Subdistrict. It was depopulated during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War on July 15, 1948 during the second phase of Operation Danny by the First and Second Battalions of the Yiftach Brigade. It was located 14 km east of Ramla. The village was defended by the Jordanian Army. Foundation legend In 1873, Clermont-Ganneau noted down the foundation legend of Bir_Ma'in. He was told that the village mosque was consecrated to its founder, Neby Ma'in, son of Jacob. He was buried in a cave nearby. When he died, his five sisters hurried to Bir Ma'in from Jiser Benat Ya'kub ('Jacob Daughters' Bridge'). However, they all died at different places in the neighbourhood, and were buried where they died. Their tombs were still an object of veneration, ''Sitt Mena'' being one of them.
