BET Awards
The BET Awards are an American award show that was established in 2001 by the BET, Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate Black person, Black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports and philanthropy. The awards, which are presented annually, are broadcast live on BET. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by artists; some of the awards of more popular interest are presented in a televised ceremony. Trophy The Award Trophy, inspired by three words - aspire, ascend, achieve, was designed by artist/sculptor Mare139, Carlos "Mare139" Rodriguez. Outkast won the first award trophy during the first ceremony in 2001. Quvenzhané Wallis ( ; born August 28, 2003) is an American actress and author. In 2012, she starred as Hushpuppy in the drama film ''Beasts of the Southern Wild'' (2012), for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, becoming the youngest actress to be nominated in the category, as well as the first actor born in the 21st century nominated for an Oscar. Miles Brown (born December 28, 2004), also known by his stage name Baby Boogaloo, is an American actor, dancer, and rapper. Richard Lamar "Ricky" Hawk (born January 23, 1998), known professionally as Silentó (), is an American former rapper, singer, songwriter, and convicted felon. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Hawk is best known for his 2015 debut single " Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)", which peaked at number three on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 when he was 17 years old. In 2021, he was arrested in DeKalb County, Georgia, and charged with the murder of his cousin.
