Baker Dearing Educational Trust
The Baker Dearing Educational Trust (abbreviated as the Baker Dearing Trust or BDT) is a UK-based registered charity established to support, advocate and develop university technical colleges (UTCs) in England. An official partnership with the Department for Education has been made for this purpose. All schools with UTC status must have a licence agreement with the BDT as it is the creator and owner of the UTC model, trademarks and brand. This agreement is fulfilled via a license fee. History Lords Kenneth Baker and Ronald Dearing conceptualised the UTC in 2009 and established the trust in the same year. Baker had previously served as Secretary of State for Education from 1986 to 1989, during which time he introduced the National Curriculum and City Technology College through the Education Reform Act 1988. Dearing died in February 2009 but he and Baker's ideas were approved by education minister Andrew Adonis of the Labour Party and the incoming Conservative-Lib Dem coalitio ...

Black–Derman–Toy Model
In mathematical finance Mathematical finance, also known as quantitative finance and financial mathematics, is a field of applied mathematics, concerned with mathematical modeling in the financial field. In general, there exist two separate branches of finance that req ..., the Black–Derman–Toy model (BDT) is a popular short-rate model used in the pricing of bond options, swaptions and other interest rate derivatives; see . It is a one-factor model; that is, a single stochastic factor—the short rate—determines the future evolution of all interest rates. It was the first model to combine the mean reversion (finance), mean-reverting behaviour of the short rate with the log-normal distribution, and is still widely used. History The model was introduced by Fischer Black, Emanuel Derman, and Bill Toy. It was first developed for in-house use by Goldman Sachs in the 1980s and was published in the ''Financial Analysts Journal'' in 1990. A personal account of the development o ...

Ballistic Deflection Transistor
Ballistic deflection transistors (BDTs) are electronic devices, developed since 2006, for high-speed integrated circuits, which is a set of circuits bounded on semiconductor material. They use electromagnetic forces instead of a logic gate, a device used to perform solely on specified inputs, to switch the forces of electrons. The unique design of this transistor includes individual electrons bouncing from wedge-shaped obstacles called deflectors. Initially accelerated by electric field, electrons are then guided on their respective paths by electromagnetic force, electromagnetic Electrostatic deflection, deflection. Electrons are therefore able to travel without being scattered by atoms or defects, thus resulting in improved speed and reduced power consumption. Purpose A ballistic deflection transistor would be significant in acting as both a linear amplifier and a switch for current flow on electronic devices, which could be used to maintain digital logic and memory. A transist ...

Bangladeshi Taka
The taka (, , currency sign, sign: , ISO 4217, code: BDT, Short form (linguistics), short form: Tk) is the currency of Bangladesh. In Unicode, it is encoded at . Issuance of banknotes 10 and larger is controlled by Bangladesh Bank, while the 2 and 5 govt. notes are the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance (Bangladesh), ministry of finance. The govt. notes of Tk. 2 and Tk.5 have mostly been replaced by coins while lower denomination coins (including all poysha coins) up to Tk. 1 have almost gone out of circulation due to inflation. The most commonly used symbol for the taka is "" and "Tk", used on receipts while purchasing goods and services. It is divided into 100 paisa, poysha, but poysha coins are no longer in circulation. The poysha is still used for accounting purposes (e.g., Tk 123,456.78 for 123,456 taka and 78 poysha). On 8 May 2024, the central bank placed the taka in a crawling peg to the US dollar, with a rate of 117 takas per US dollar. Etymology Accordi ...

Bangladesh Standard Time
Bangladesh Standard Time (BST; ) serves as the official time zone for Bangladesh. It operates six hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time and is observed uniformly across the country as a national standard. In 2009, Bangladesh briefly observed daylight saving time (DST) as a measure to address an ongoing electricity crisis. However, this decision was reversed by the government in 2010. The official time signal of BST is determined based on the 90.00° E longitude. This meridian passes through the Harukandi Union, located in the Harirampur Upazila of the Manikganj District, within the Dhaka Division. In the IANA time zone database, BST is represented by the identifier Asia/Dhaka. History From 1890 to 1941, Bengal, under the British Raj adhered to Calcutta time ( UTC+5:53:20). During the 1940s, in the midst of World War II, British India underwent a series of time zone changes. # On 1 October 1941, the region transitioned to UTC+06:30. # On 15 May 1942, the following y ...

The Best Damn Thing
''The Best Damn Thing'' is the third studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne. It was firstly released in Europe on April 13, 2007, then worldwide on April 17, 2007 by RCA Records. as her second studio album on the label. The album represents a musical departure from her previous studio album '' Under My Skin'' (2004), which incorporated more elements of post-grunge. ''The Best Damn Thing'' is seen by critics as Lavigne's most commercial effort. The album was noted as her first effort to feature a wide range of producers, including Matt Beckley, Rob Cavallo, Dr. Luke and Lavigne herself, who was credited as the executive producer. Upon its release, ''The Best Damn Thing'' received mixed reviews from music critics; some considered the album very radio-friendly, while others praised Lavigne's transition from grungey alternative rock music to more pop-punk and bubblegum pop music. However, the main criticism of the album was the lyrical content, which some found ...
