GLV and BCV are Australian television stations licensed to serve Traralgon, Bendigo and the region of Victoria. The stations are owned and operated by Network 10. History Early years GLV-10 in Traralgon was the first regional television station to launch in Australia on 9 December 1961, originally covering the Gippsland and Latrobe Valley areas. It was also the first station to completely use Australian-made broadcasting equipment from AWA. The original transmission equipment consisted of a 10 kW and 2 kW transmitter (standby) which was based on the RCA product and adapted to 230 V 50 Hz by AWA. The Melbourne pickup was a Rhode and Schwarz off-air receiver with AWA return microwave links to the studio. BCV-8 first went to air two weeks later, on 23 December 1961(the same day as the launch of GMV-6 Shepparton), serving Bendigo and Central Victoria. In Australia, regional television is the local television services outside of the five main Australian cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth). STV is an Australian television station licensed to and serving the regions surrounding Mildura, Victoria, owned and operated by the WIN Corporation and part of the WIN Television network. The station commenced transmissions on 27 November 1965. History During the 1970s, STV formed a programming and operational affiliation with GLV-10 (later GLV-8) in Traralgon and BCV-8 in Bendigo – a partnership expanded upon in 1982 with the establishment of a single on-air identity and programming schedule across the three stations, known originally as ''Southern Cross TV8'' and later, the ''Southern Cross Network''. Alan Bond's Bond Media brought STV in March 1989, for $18 million, from then-owners Sunraysia Television, after they acquired Channel Nine Perth from Bond who were forced to sell it due to cross-media ownership laws restricting national audience reach. VTV is an Australian television station broadcasting in regional Victoria in Australia. The network was owned by ENT Ltd., before being purchased by the WIN Corporation. Network history ''VICTV Television Victoria'' began as a network of several stations serving northern and western Victoria: *GMV-6 Shepparton (launched on 23 December 1961) *BTV-6 Ballarat (launched on 27 April 1962) *STV-8 Mildura (launched on 27 November 1965). Television Victoria was owned and operated by Examiner-Northern TV Ltd, a company which already owned TVT-6 Hobart as well as GMV-6 and BTV-6.
