Bumiputra Commerce Bank (BCB) (formerly known as Commerce Asset-Holdings Berhad) is the listed vehicle for CIMB Group, Malaysia's second-largest financial services group. The new name will also ensure consistency between the listed entity and its operating subsidiaries, and serves to further strengthen the CIMB brand value proposition. It has been listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia, the nation's stock exchange since 2001. As at February, (BCB) Bumiputra Commerce Bank was the sixth-largest company on Bursa Malaysia with a market capitalization of RM21.7 billion. Bumiputra Commerce Bank (BCB) has gone through an internal restructuring process, which has resulted in transforming the company. ''Bumiputera'' or ''bumiputra'' ( Jawi: , Native) is a term used in Malaysia to describe Malays, the Orang Asli of Peninsular Malaysia, various indigenous peoples of East Malaysia, and Peranakans. The term is derived from the Sanskrit language which was later absorbed into the classical Malay word (). This can be translated literally as "son of the land" or "son of the soil". In Indonesia, this term is known as "Pribumi"; the latter is also used in Malaysia but in a more generic sense to mean "indigenous peoples". In the 1970s, the Malaysian government implemented policies designed to favour bumiputera (including affirmative action in public education and in the public sector) in order to elevate the socioeconomic status of the economically disadvantaged bumiputera community.
