Bangladesh Caterers Association UK
Bangladesh Caterers Association UK (abbreviated as BCA) is the Umbrella organization, umbrella organisation of British Bangladeshi, British-Bangladeshi restaurants. It was established in 1960 to represent the catering industry run by the ethnic Bangladeshis. Premise In 1960, Israel Miah became the founder president of what became the Bangladesh Caterers Association. It represents the political and economic interests of the owners of 12,000 British Bangladeshi restaurants and takeaways across the UK. It organises various activities to promote Bangladeshi cuisine in Great Britain as well as in Europe. In 2004, the organisation requested for ethnic restaurant staff positions to be designated as a shortage occupation, which would make it easier for Bangladeshi citizens to obtain UK work permits. In 2014, the organisation established a cross party parliamentary group to lobby the Government of the United Kingdom, British Government on behalf of the curry industry. It had the support ...

Binary Collision Approximation
In condensed-matter physics, the binary collision approximation (BCA) is a heuristic used to more efficiently simulate the penetration depth and defect production by energetic ions (with kinetic energies in the kilo-electronvolt (keV) range or higher) in solids. In the method, the ion is approximated to travel through a material by experiencing a sequence of independent binary collisions with sample atoms ( nuclei). Between the collisions, the ion is assumed to travel in a straight path, experiencing electronic stopping power, but losing no energy in collisions with nuclei.R. Smith (ed.)Atomic & ion collisions in solids and at surfaces: theory, simulation and applications Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, UK, 1997 Simulation approaches In the BCA approach, a single collision between the incoming ion and a target atom (nucleus) is treated by solving the classical scattering integral between two colliding particles for the impact parameter of the incoming ion. Solution o ...

Branched-chain Amino Acid
A branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) is an amino acid having an aliphatic substituent, side-chain with a branch (a central carbon atom bound to three or more carbon atoms). Among the proteinogenic amino acids, there are three BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Non-proteinogenic BCAAs include 2-Aminoisobutyric acid, 2-aminoisobutyric acid and alloisoleucine. The three proteinogenic BCAAs are among the nine essential amino acids for humans, accounting for 35% of the essential amino acids in muscle proteins and 40% of the preformed amino acids required by mammals. Synthesis for BCAAs occurs in all locations of plants, within the plastids of the cell, as determined by presence of Messenger RNA, mRNAs which encode for enzymes in the metabolic pathway. Oxidation of BCAAs may increase fatty acid oxidation and play a role in obesity. Physiologically, BCAAs take on roles in the immune system and in brain function. BCAAs are broken down effectively by dehydrogenase and decarboxylase ...

Bradford Protein Assay
The Bradford protein assay (also known as the Coomassie protein assay) was developed by Marion M. Bradford in 1976. It is a quick and accurate spectroscopic analytical procedure used to measure the concentration of protein in a solution. The reaction is dependent on the amino acid composition of the measured proteins. Principle The Bradford assay, a colorimetric protein assay, is based on an absorbance shift of the dye Coomassie brilliant blue G-250. The Coomassie brilliant blue G-250 dye exists in three forms: anionic (blue), neutral (green), and cationic (red). Under acidic conditions, the dye is red; as it loses acidity, the red form of the dye is converted into its blue form, binding to the protein being assayed. If there is no protein to bind, then the solution will remain brown. The dye forms a strong, noncovalent complex with the protein's carboxyl group by van der Waals force and amino group through electrostatic interactions. During the formation of this complex, the ...

Bicinchoninic Acid Assay
The bicinchoninic acid assay (BCA assay), also known as the Smith assay, after its inventor, Paul K. Smith at the Pierce Chemical Company, is a biochemical assay for determining the total concentration of protein in a solution (0.5 μg/mL to 1.5 mg/mL), similar to Lowry protein assay, Bradford protein assay or biuret reagent. The total protein concentration is exhibited by a color change of the sample solution from blue to purple in proportion to protein concentration, which can then be measured using colorimetric Colorimetry is "the science and technology used to quantify and describe physically the human color perception". It is similar to spectrophotometry, but is distinguished by its interest in reducing spectra to the physical correlates of color p ... techniques. The BCA assay was patented by Pierce Chemical Company in 1989 & the patent expired in 2006. Mechanism A stock BCA solution contains the following ingredients in a highly alkaline solution with a pH 11. ...

Bicinchoninic Acid
Bicinchoninic acid () or BCA is a weak acid composed of two carboxylated quinoline rings. It is an organic compound with the formula (C9H5NCO2H)2. The molecule consists of a pair of quinoline rings, each bearing a carboxylic acid group. Its sodium salt forms a purple complex with cuprous ions. Bicinchoninic acid is most commonly employed in the bicinchoninic acid (BCA) assay, which is used to determine the total concentration of protein in a solution. Bicinchoninic acid is used to detect the presence of cuprous ions, due to its purple coloration via a biuret reaction. In this assay, two molecules of bicinchoninic acid chelate Chelation () is a type of bonding of ions and their molecules to metal ions. It involves the formation or presence of two or more separate coordinate bonds between a polydentate (multiple bonded) ligand and a single central metal atom. These l ... a single Cu+ ion, forming a purple water-soluble complex that strongly absorbs light at 562 nm. Refere ...

BC Aichach
The BC Aichach is a German association football club from the town of Aichach, Bavaria. The club has been part of the Landesliga Bayern-Süd over most of the past five decades, playing 29 seasons there since 1963. Only '' TSV 1860 Rosenheim'' (36 seasons) and '' FC Gundelfingen'' (31 seasons) have spent more time in the league. In 1988, ''BCA'' won the Schwaben Cup, a qualifying competition for the German Cup, but failed to advance out of the preliminary rounds. ''Aichach'' should not be confused another club out of Bavarian Swabia also commonly referred to as ''BCA'', the now defunct side '' BC Augsburg'', whose logo was very similar in appearance. History The club was formed on 17 October 1917. Because of its connection to the Catholic church, ''BC'' was forced to merge with the gymnastics club ''TSV Aichach'' in 1933 by the Nazis who opposed faith-based and left-leaning workers' clubs. It regained its independence in 1945 following World War II. ''BCA'' became a foundin ...

BC Augsburg
BC Augsburg was a German football club based in Augsburg, Bavaria. The team was founded as Fußball-Club Allemannia Augsburg in 1907 and played as Ballspiel-Club Augsburg from 1921 to 1969. Facing imminent financial collapse, BC merged with the football side of TSV Schwaben Augsburg in July 1969 to form FC Augsburg. The union was short-lived and Schwaben re-established its own football department the following year. FCA remains active today and carries on the tradition of the original side. History Foundation to WWII On 11 May 1909, BC joined the gymnastics club Turnverein 1871 Oberhausen as that association's football department, based in the suburb of Oberhausen. Oberhausen merged with Turnverein Augsburg II to create Turn- und Sportverein 1871 Augsburg with the footballers playing as Ballspielclub im TSV 1847. A year later the footballers went their own way as a separate club and first adopted the name BC Augsburg. In the 1930s the club shared unions with Sportverein Augsbu ...

British Chess Federation
The English Chess Federation (ECF) is the governing chess organisation in England. It is affiliated to FIDE. The ECF was formed in 2004 as one of the more localised successors to the British Chess Federation (BCF), an organisation founded in 1904. History From 1904 until 2005, the British Chess Federation (BCF) was the governing body of chess in England. The BCF itself replaced the British Chess Association (BCA) and initially governed chess, its pre-eminent ratings, and rules in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Over time, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Islands were governed by their own chess federations. Only England came under BCF jurisdiction, and it also administered the British Chess Championship. In 2004, English chess administrators agreed that it would be factual to replace the BCF with the ECF, a change effective from the start of the 2005/6 season. From the 1990s there has been a movement to incorporate the federation into a company limited by guarantee ...
