BASF was a record label that existed during the 1970s. The label issued thousands of recordings by artists of many genres. Los Bravos were a Spanish beat group, formed in 1965 and based in Madrid. Horst Jankowski (30 January 1936 – 29 June 1998) was a classically trained German pianist, most famous for his internationally successful easy listening music. Biography Born in Berlin, Jankowski studied at the Berlin Music Conservatory and played jazz in Germany in the 1950s. In 1953 and 1954 he was a member of Kurt Hohenberger's orchestra, then pianist for singer Caterina Valente until 1955. Jankowski's fame as a composer of easy listening pop peaked in 1965 with his instrumental "Eine Schwarzwaldfahrt", released in English as "A Walk in the Black Forest". The tune became a pop hit, reaching #1 on the US easy listening chart, #12 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and #3 on the UK Singles Chart. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Friedrich Gulda (16 May 1930 – 27 January 2000) was an Austrian pianist and composer who worked in both the classical and jazz fields. Biography Early life and career Born in Vienna the son of a teacher, Gulda began learning to play the piano at age 7 with Felix Pazofsky at the Wiener Volkskonservatorium. In 1942, he entered the Vienna Music Academy, where he studied piano and musical theory under Bruno Seidlhofer and Joseph Marx.
