B. John Pandian is an advocate, social worker and an Indian politician from Tamilnadu. He founded the Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam party in 2000. Political career He was initially part of Pattali Makkal Katchi party since 1989, holding the post of Youth Wing Secretary. He contested the 1989 Indian general election in Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency as PMK candidate in 1989 and also contested the 1991 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in Mudukulathur Assembly constituency and securing the second place surpassing the DMK candidate. He formed the Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam party in 2000. The party joined AIADMK-led Alliance alliance in 2001 and got allotted one seat. John Pandian contested 2001 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in Egmore and lost the seat by a slender margin of 86 votes. 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats (except Thanjavur and Aravakurichi for which held on 26 October 2016) of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984, though with a simple majority. The DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly; notably, the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested, and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. 2001 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The twelfth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 10 May 2001. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-led front won the elections and its general secretary, J. Jayalalithaa was sworn in as Chief Minister, even though she could not legally run as MLA in this election.
