B. Devendhira Poopathy
A.B. Devendhira Poopathy, popularly known as Poopathy, is an established Tamil poet/writer. Born 18 February 1969, he has published five collections of poems so far, namely, "Peyarchol", "Velichathin Vaasanai", "Andhara Meen", "Mudivattra Nanbagal", "Aagave Naanum". His poems are immensely influenced by his in-depth knowledge in Tamil Sangam literature and his interest in philosophy. Through �Kadavu’, a literary organization which he founded, he conducts various events in the interest of modern Tamil literature. He is an Additional Commissioner of State Taxes, Tamil Nadu. Kazhamputhithu literary association recently announced Mr.Poopathy is selected for the 2012, 'Kazham' puthithu award. He holds M.Com from A.P.A. Sangam Literature
The Sangam literature (Tamil language, Tamil: சங்க இலக்கியம், ''caṅka ilakkiyam''), historically known as 'the poetry of the noble ones' (Tamil language, Tamil: சான்றோர் செய்யுள், ''Cāṉṟōr ceyyuḷ''), connotes the early classical Tamil literature and is the earliest known literature of South India. The Tamil tradition links it to Legendary Tamil Sangams, legendary literary gatherings around Madurai in the ancient Pandya dynasty, Pandya kingdom. Tamil literature includes a collection of literary works that have come from a tradition spanning more than two thousand years. The oldest extant works show signs of maturity indicating an even longer period of evolution.
