Azul (baseball)
Azul were a Cuban professional baseball team. They played from 1904 to 1908 featuring players mostly from the Cuban League. The won the Cuban Summer Championship in 1904 and 1907 under manager Evaristo Plá. Emilio Palomino (ca. 1880 – unknown death date) was a Cuban baseball outfielder in the Cuban League. Armando Marsans Mendiondo (October 3, 1887 – September 3, 1960) was a Cuban professional baseball player who played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball from 1911 to 1918. He played in three different major leagues in his career: with the Cincinnati Reds in the National League (1911–1914), with the St. Louis Terriers in the Federal League (1914–1915), and with the St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees (1916–1918). Eusebio González
Eusebio Miguel López González apo(July 13, 1892 – February 14, 1976) was an infielder who played briefly in Major League Baseball during the 1918 season. Listed at 5' 10", 165 lb., González batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Havana, Cuba. González has the distinction of being the first Cuban player to play for the Boston Red Sox, and the 11th Cuban major leaguer overall. He appeared in three games with the 1918 American League champions Red Sox but did not play in the World Series. He went 2-for-5, including two runs and a triple, while playing at shortstop (2 games) and second base (1 game). González died in his home town of Havana, Cuba at age 83. Pelayo Chacón
Pelayo "Cortina" Chacón Cortina (September 22, 1888 – March 11, 1971) was a Cuban baseball shortstop and manager in the Cuban League and Negro leagues. Nicknamed "Cortina" or "The Curtain" he played from the age of 19, from 1908 to 1931 with several clubs, including Almendares, Azul, Club Fé, Habana, Cuban House of David, the New York Cubans, and the Cuban Stars (East). Chacón also managed the New York Cubans from 1916 to 1919 where he also played shortstop. When the Negro National League formed in 1920, Chacón played for the Hilldale Club, then moved to the Cuban Stars (East) where he played most of the rest of his career. It appears he played his final games at the age of 42 for the Cuban House of David baseball team.
