Azor (, 'helper'; , ), according to a New Testament gospel narrative in Matthew 1:13 and 1:14, was an ancestor of Jesus. He is mentioned as the son of Eliakim and the great-grandson of Zerubbabel; he is the father of Zadok. By this account he is of the Davidic line. In the Bible According to the Gospel of Matthew, Azor was the son of Eliakim and the father of Zadok from the patriarchal tribe of Judah. He is not mentioned anywhere in the Old Testament as a descendant of Zerubbabel, nor through any son by the name ''Abiud''. That name does not appear in the Old Testament either. However, ''Abiud'' is possibly intended to be ''Obadiah'', the son of Arnan, who is mentioned in the first Book of Chronicles ( 1 Chronicles 3:21). Azor was one of the most powerful English landowners at the time of Edward the Confessor in the 11th century. He was a kinsman and chamberlain of Brihtheah, a bishop of Worcester and a former abbot of Pershore. Azor Adélaïde (15 February 192225 November 1971), also known as Azor Adelaide, was a Mauritian Creole political activist. He was shot and killed along Chasteauneuf Road in the town of Curepipe, Mauritius on 25 November 1971. Although witnesses have provided detailed accounts of the murder it remains unsolved. Azor Betts
Azor Betts (September 13, 1740 – September 14, 1809) was an American Loyalist medical doctor who began his practice in the Province of New York before the American Revolutionary War. His staunch defense of smallpox inoculation and support of the Loyalist cause led to his arrest and eventual departure to Canada. Life before the Revolution Azor Betts was born on September 13, 1740, in Norwalk, Connecticut, the son of Nathan Betts and Mary Belden. He married Gloriana Purdy in 1765 in Rye, New York, and practiced medicine in New York City prior to the Revolutionary War. Azor Orne
Azor Orne (July 22, 1731 – June 6, 1796), sometimes spelled Azore, was a colonial American merchant, politician and patriot. In the years preceding the American Revolution, Orne built a controversial hospital to quarantine and help smallpox sufferers, became a militia colonel, and was a founding member of the Massachusetts Bay colony's committee of safety. As a scion of a powerful Marblehead, Massachusetts merchant family, Orne lent money to the continental cause but was never repaid. Orne was appointed major general of the wartime militia, and after the revolution, he signed his state's constitution and was one of those who approved the national constitution.
