Azmi Mohamed Megahed
Azmi Mohamed Megahed (; 15 April 1950 – 12 September 2020) was an Egyptian volleyball player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Biography Born in Dakahlia, Megahed played for Zamalek SC and Egypt national team for 16 years. He won the best African player award in 1974. He also won many individual, domestic and continental awards as a player and manager. He later became a board member of Zamalek SC, then worked as a political commentator and TV presenter at "Al Assema TV". His son, Amir Azmy, became a footballer. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. Amir Azmy Megahed (; born February 14, 1983) is an Egyptian Association football, football coach and retired player. He currently works as assistant coach for Zamalek SC, Zamalek. Career In December 2003, Azmy was suspended from football for 14 months following a positive doping test at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship. Azmy pledged not guilty for the dope found in his blood, and claimed that it was a component of a prescribed drug he took as part of his muscular enhancement training. He appealed for the suspension to be cancelled, but the appeal was not accepted. After spending the suspension period, he signed for PAOK and was a regular starter before being transferred to Al-Shabab (Saudi Arabia), Al-Shabab in KSA in what was eventually an unsuccessful experience for the player, where he featured very rarely as a starter.
