Ayu Islands
The Ayau Islands (Kepulauan Ayau) are a small archipelago located south of the Asia Islands and north of Waigeo Island within the Raja Ampat Islands of Indonesia. They are separated from Waigeo Island by the Bougainville Strait. The archipelago consists of two coral atolls. Waigeo Island
Waigeo is an Islands of Indonesia, island in Southwest Papua, the Southwest Papua province of eastern Indonesia. The island is also known as Amberi or Waigiu. It is the largest of the four main islands in the Raja Ampat Islands archipelago, between Halmahera and about to the northwest coast of New Guinea. The Dampier Strait (Indonesia), Dampier Strait (a.k.a. Augusta's Strait) separates it from Batanta, and the Bougainville Strait (Indonesia), Bougainville Strait from the Kawe Islands to its northwest. Raja Ampat Regency is a regency of Southwest Papua Province of Indonesia. The regency, which was formed by separating the archipelago from Sorong Regency, based on the Law 26 of 2002, was inaugurated on 12 April 2003. Bougainville Strait (Indonesia)
Bougainville Strait separates Choiseul Island, part of Solomon Islands, from Bougainville Island, part of Papua New Guinea. The first European to pass through the strait was Louis Antoine de Bougainville in 1768, whose name was given to this water pathway. Lieutenant John Shortland of the Royal Navy sailed through the strait in 1788, giving the name of Treasury Islands to the numerous islands, lying in the strait. He named the strait after himself, but it later became known as Bougainville. Bougainville Strait is part of the navigation route for merchant shipping from Torres Strait to the Panama Canal. Asia Islands
The Asia Islands () are a group of three small islands in the open sea north of the Raja Ampat Archipelago of eastern Indonesia. They are located north of the island of Waigeo, around north of the last of the Ayu Islands (both in the Raja Ampat Achipelago), and south of the island of Tobi in Palau. The individual islands (in descending order of size, and running from north to south) are known as Fani, Igi and Miarin.
