Ayodeji Awoyomi
Ayodeji Oluwaseun Awoyomi (born 1 June 1990) is a Nigerian fine art photographer based in the United Kingdom. He became the first Nigerian to win the British Institute of Professional Photography's International Photographer of the Year award in 2024. His work has been featured in several international exhibitions and explores themes of identity, childhood, and cultural memory. Early life and education Awoyomi was born in Usi-Ekiti, in the former Ondo State of Nigeria (now Ekiti State), to Prince Bamidele Awoyomi, a civil servant, and Chief Mrs. Funmilayo Awoyomi, a businesswoman. He is the eldest of six children. He attended Area 1 Primary School in Garki, Abuja, and Government College Usi for secondary school. He later studied geology at Ekiti State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 2016. British Institute Of Professional Photography
The British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) is a not-for-profit organisation for professional photographers in the United Kingdom. Members must be qualified professionals, and agree to be bound by the BIPP's code of conduct. The institute was formed as The Professional Photographers' Association on 28 March 1901, at a meeting at a hotel in Fleet Street, and has since changed its name three times, including Institute of Incorporated Photographers. From 100 members at its outset, the institute now has over 500 members. Members can become qualified at three different levels as assessed by the BIPP, with the highest being Fellowship (FBIPP). Didi Museum
Didi Museum is a Nigerian private museum established in 1983. It is recognized as the first privately owned museum in Nigeria. History Didi Museum was founded by Dr. Newton Jibunoh in memory of his younger sister, Edith Jibunoh, who died at the age of 13. The name "Didi" originated from Dr. Jibunoh's mispronunciation of his sister's name. The museum was officially inaugurated on May 11, 1983, within Dr. Jibunoh's private residence on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. The opening ceremony was presided over by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano, who also served as the museum's first Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
